Prism Translation Adjust
Figure 6-16: Prl Prism Translation Adjust and Setscrew
5. Set the position of Prl and Pr4 (Figure 6-10) to maintain the position
of the fluorescent spots outside the cavity.
The fluorescence from the beam might pass over the apex of Prl and
Pr4, missing them, and pass through the AOM and out the laser. To
ensure the alignment is performed correctly, move the prisms a bit
further into the beam, temporarily, to make sure the fluorescence
passes through them.
a. Loosen the setscrew that locks prism Prl in place and move the
prism up by turning its Prism Translation Adjust screw 3 to 4
turns (Figure 6-16). Tighten the setscrew.
b. Repeat step a for prism Pr4.
c. Skip to step 7.
6. Replace the GTI at MI (ps configuration).
a. Turn off the Model 3955 electronics module.
DANGER: HIGH VOLTAGE
The pc board on the floor of the laser head contains high voltage. Turn
off the Model 3955 electronics module to disable this board when
changing the GTI.
