Music Therapy Treatment Protocol
• Variety of music therapy procedures utilized
• Based on interests and abilities of the participants, and ability to address
the goals
• Opening song/activity
• Usually an instrumental improvisation
• Core or main activities
• One or two additional music therapy activities
• Included:
• Single pitched instruments played on cue
• Composition through substitution of words
• Singing
• All included verbal processing, with some focus on mood
