IntroductionSince the inception of London’s bid to stage the XIV Paralympic Games in 2012, wehave put athletes and sport at the heart of our work.Personally this concept lies deep within my DNA but the rationale is also based onintellectual rigour. We have always known that if we get our work right for athletesthen by implication we will get it right in every other aspect of the project. Everythingwe have learned from the Games experts at the IPC and the National ParalympicCommittees since we won the honour to host the Games in 2005 has reinforced ouropinion.Therefore, let me thank you from the outset for the invaluable assistance that you andyour teams have already provided to LOCOG and for our ever closer collaboration aswe go forward into this final year of preparation for the Games.I am delighted to present the NPC Chefs de Mission Dossier for the London 2012Paralympic Games. This document is a milestone for any organising committee as itarticulates the service levels that we will be providing to you, your athletes and NPCteam officials.This dossier will provide you with the information to plan your team’s participation atthe Paralympic Games next summer, and I encourage you to review its contents inadvance so our teams can assist with any questions or issues during the Chefs deMission Seminar scheduled to take place from 6 to 9 September in London.Every care has been taken to ensure the accuracy of the dossier. However, as you willknow from past experience, some of our work will evolve in the run-up to the Games.LOCOG’s NPC Services and Relations team will ensure your NPC is updated with anydevelopments or changes. In June 2012, we will send you the Chefs de MissionManual with confirmation of the final policies and procedures that will apply atGames time.By the time you arrive in our city to attend the Chefs de Mission Seminar, there will beless than a year to go before the Opening Ceremony.
