5.6 Medical services5.6.1 Paralympic Family medical careHospital and ambulance services will be provided free of charge by the UK NationalHealth Service (NHS) from 20 August to 12 September 2012 for acute illnesses andinjuries or acute exacerbations of pre-existing illnesses or injuries. Treatment of stable,pre-existing conditions will not be covered under this agreement. Paralympic Familymembers covered under the agreement will include all NPC, A and P accreditations.5.6.2 Private health insuranceNPCs should obtain private medical insurance outside the time period defined aboveand for non-accredited NPC delegation members or accredited members that are notcovered by Paralympic Family Medical Care.5.6.3 Repatriation insuranceLOCOG will provide repatriation insurance from 20 August to 12 September 2012for the above mentioned groups. This insurance will provide free air travel home, withaccompanying medical specialists if necessary, and also the cost of bringing a relativefrom overseas to be with the sick person. In the event of death, repatriation insurancewill cover the cost of transporting the body home. Arrangements will be coordinatedby LOCOG.5.6.4 Malpractice insuranceLOCOG will not provide malpractice insurance to NPC health care personnel.5.6.5 Games-time medical servicesPlease refer to sections on medical services provided at the Paralympic Village (section4.2.8), the Paralympic Rowing Village (section 4.4.7) and the Paralympic SailingVillage (section 4.5.7).London 2012 – NPC Chefs de Mission Dossier165
