4.2 Paralympic Villages operations4.2.1 Paralympic Village zones and access control pointsThe Paralympic Village will have a Village Plaza and a Residential Zone. TheResidential Zone is a restricted area for residents and their guests who have ‘R’ ontheir Paralympic Identity and Accreditation Card (PIAC). It contains theaccommodation, recreation, dining facilities and transport links to the competition andtraining venues. The two zones will be separated by internal fencing and accesscontrol. All access points into the Villages will require the appropriate accreditationand a security check of people and personal items.There will be operational areas containing many of the back-of-house services, such aswarehousing and NPC containers, and service areas such as the Main Dining hall, theTransport Mall and NPC car park.In the Paralympic Village, there are four access points for residents – north, south-east,east and west – as indicated on the Village map in section seven:- north: the main vehicle access servicing the Transport Mall.- south-east: the main entry gives access to the Guest Pass Centre and the VillagePlaza. Located adjacent to this is a dedicated entry for residents into theResidential Zone. This area is also close to the NPC car park. Further east, NPCswill find the Welcome Centre which is the ‘first arrival’ point for Village residents.- east: the main staff entry is located here and this area will also serve as a taxipick-up and drop-off and a location for NPC bus pick-up.- west: a pedestrian bridge and path will offer residents access to and from theOlympic Park itself.4.2.2 Paralympic Village Welcome CentreAthletes and NPC team officials arriving at the Paralympic Village for the first timemust enter through the Welcome Centre.The DRMs will take place in the Welcome Centre of the Paralympic Village.Accreditation validation and issue resolution is available immediately following thesecurity screening.London 2012 – NPC Chefs de Mission Dossier80
