In addition, regulations are proposed which, subject to exemptions for things likenormal shop signage, will make it a criminal offence to advertise in the vicinity of ourvenues. NPC sponsors will not be able to distribute or display advertising in areascovered by the regulations, unless specifically authorised to do so by LOCOG. Pleasenote that LOCOG is unlikely to authorise advertising by NPC sponsors in these areas.Further details of these proposed regulations are available on the following website.According to past practice, the following will apply in relation to NPCs:Paralympic Village – within an NPC’s allotment (that is, private areas accessible onlyby the team and officials and not visible externally), an NPC may provide recognitionto the NPC sponsors and NPC sponsor products may be distributed to team membersfor consumption/use within those private areas. For example, if an NPC has abiscuit/cookie sponsor, its products may be stocked in the NPC’s private kitchen.Pre-Games Training Camps venues – an NPC may put up limited recognition for itssponsors in private/closed areas at the facilities it is using in the UK. For example, thismay include pop-up banners crediting the sponsors. If an NPC is holding a pressconference, inviting the media to visit/film the training camp, or welcoming visits fromlocal schoolchildren, etc, this limited recognition does not have to be removed, butsuch media visits should not be used as a promotional opportunity for the sponsorsoutside the NPC’s territory.NPC hospitality houses – NPCs may provide recognition to NPC sponsors, who mayactivate their NPC sponsorship inside the NPC hospitality house only. The followingrestrictions apply:- There must be no commercial branding for any NPC sponsor (unless the sponsor isalso a partner of the London 2012 Paralympic Games) outside (or visible fromoutside) the NPC hospitality house;- The name of the NPC hospitality house cannot include either the corporate nameor brand or logo of any NPC sponsor (for example, ‘[sponsor name] [NPC name]house’). Any recognition using a designation such as presented by [‘sponsorname’] or similar is strictly limited to the inside of the NPC hospitality house; and- There must be no promotion of the NPC sponsor and/or its sponsorship outside ofthe NPC hospitality house, whether through adverts, leafleting, or public relations.NPC hospitality houses signage, promotion, retail operations and other commercialissuesLondon 2012 – NPC Chefs de Mission Dossier190
