6. Departures6.1 Departure transportLOCOG will provi<strong>de</strong> transport from all Villages directly to Heathrow Airport. Thisservice will be available for the duration of the arrivals and <strong>de</strong>partures service period.It is vital that the ADS is kept up to date with NPC <strong>de</strong>parture plans to ensure LOCOGhas a<strong>de</strong>quate resources to provi<strong>de</strong> NPCs with the services they require, when nee<strong>de</strong>d.LOCOG encourages all NPCs to <strong>de</strong>part from Heathrow Airport, the official Port ofExit.NPCs that have no alternative but to <strong>de</strong>part from a port other than Heathrow Airportshould speak to their NPC Relations representative.6.1.1 Remote check-in at the Paralympic VillageHeathrow Airport will be operating at full capacity at Games time, and the use ofRemote Check-In (RCI) by <strong>de</strong>legates to ensure a smooth <strong>de</strong>parture process is stronglyrecommen<strong>de</strong>d. For any <strong>de</strong>legate <strong>de</strong>parting from Heathrow Airport on a participatingairline, RCI facilities will be ma<strong>de</strong> available at the Paralympic Village.RCI will not be available from the Paralympic Rowing Village or the ParalympicSailing Village, or for <strong>de</strong>partures from other ports. RCI will be offered on anticipatedpeak <strong>de</strong>parture dates. These are likely to be the day of the Closing Ceremony and thetwo days immediately following the ceremony. During the Games, LOCOG Arrivalsand Departures staff will work with the NPCs to un<strong>de</strong>rstand which individuals wish toparticipate in RCI.To participate in RCI, athletes and NPC team officials will need to visit an RCI <strong>de</strong>skwithin the Paralympic Village, the precise location of which is to be confirmed. Theywill check in for their flight, receive a boarding pass, and have their baggage tagged.Once a bag has been remotely checked in, it will be securely transported by LOCOGdirectly to Heathrow Airport ready for the <strong>de</strong>legate’s flight.Athletes and NPC team officials can then continue to enjoy the remain<strong>de</strong>r of theirGames, and proceed to the airport with only their hand baggage, or with limitedcheck-in baggage, making their <strong>de</strong>parture much easier, with fewer bags to handle.London 2012 – NPC <strong>Chefs</strong> <strong>de</strong> <strong>Mission</strong> <strong>Dossier</strong>194
