Where TA system vehicles run from within one secure perimeter to another using thePRN, athletes and NPC team officials will not be required to disembark the vehicle forpersonal screening. However, TA system vehicles will be required to stop briefly at theVSA for external screening (this is not expected to take longer than two minutes).This process will apply to all journeys from the Paralympic Village to competitionvenues and back again.Athletes and NPC team officials returning from competition venues to the ParalympicVillage will be required to disembark the TA system vehicle for personal screening,after being dropped off at the Transport Mall. They will not be required to disembarkthe vehicle at the VSA when entering the Olympic Park.NPCs looking to access or park their own vehicles (with VAPPs) within the secureperimeter of a venue should expect to be stopped at the VSA and passengers will berequired to go through personal screening.5.5.7 Prohibited ItemsItems that are considered prohibited at the London 2012 venues and ParalympicVillages include:- explosive devices and explosive materials;- firearms;- ammunition;- knives (with exclusions listed below);- incendiary devices;- hazardous substances under the Dangerous Goods Act (such as chemicals,irritants and gas canisters);- fireworks and other pyrotechnics;- laser pointers;- personal protection sprays;- offensive implements (that is, anything made or adapted to cause injury to aperson), for example, crossbows; and- substances banned under the Misuse of Drugs Act.In addition to the list above, items that have the appearance of a prohibited item (forexample, replica firearms, hoax improvised explosive devices), whether capable ofcausing actual harm or not, will be prohibited.London 2012 – NPC Chefs de Mission Dossier163
