<strong>2005</strong> ChangZhou 30 year BOT 1,200,000 water management<br />

Veolia <strong>Water</strong> and Citic Pacific acquired a 49% stake in the municipal company ChangZhou Tap <strong>Water</strong><br />

Group, following an international tender. The contract is worth €800 million and involves managing the<br />

company, including 5 water treatment plants (capacity 790,000m 3 /day), a 1,750km distribution network<br />

and customer services.<br />

<strong>2005</strong> Handan 25 year BOT 800,000 wastewater<br />

This contract involves the construction of a new wastewater treatment plant, with a capacity of<br />

100,000m 3 per day and its operation for 25 years. The Veolia <strong>Water</strong> System contract will have total<br />

revenues of €62 million<br />

<strong>2005</strong> Urumqi 23 year BOT 1,200,000 wastewater<br />

The contract serves the capital of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, and involves upgrading<br />

and operating for a 23-year period of the city's wastewater treatment plant, in partnership with the<br />

Beijing Capital Group. The plant's current capacity of 200,000m 3 per day, will increase to 400,000m 3<br />

per day by 2008. Total revenue for Veolia <strong>Water</strong>, under the contract, will be €280 million<br />

2003 Shenzhen 50 year BOT 2,200,000 water & wastewater<br />

This contract is being jointly operated with Beijing Capital Corporation (see company entry) and will<br />

generate revenues totalling €8.5 billion. 45% of the contract company is held by VE and BCG and<br />

55% by the Shenzhen municipalities. VE is investing €390 million into the project.<br />

2004 Weinan 22 year BOT 300,000 water<br />

A €190 million rehabilitation and operation contract for bulk water services, providing 160,000 m 3 per<br />

day.<br />

2004 Hohhot 30 year BOT 2.5 million water<br />

The rehabilitation and operation of the Inner Mongolian capital’s water production and treatment<br />

system has a capacity of 515,000 m 3 per day will generate revenues of €600 million.<br />

2004 Beijing 20 year BOT Wastewater<br />

The Bei Yuan wastewater treatment plant will be adjacent to the Olympic Village and the contract will<br />

generate total revenues of €20 million.<br />

2004 Zunyi 35 year concession 600,000 water<br />

Zunyi is in the Guizhou Province. This rehabilitation and operation contract is being carried out jointly<br />

with Citic Pacific (see company entry) and will generate total revenues of €210 million.<br />

2003 Qingdao 25 year BOT 1 million wastewater<br />

The contract covers the operation of two wastewater treatment works to be developed in anticipation<br />

of the 2008 Beijing Olympiad. Revenues will total €110 million. The capacity of the Maidao plant will<br />

be increased from 80,000m 3 per day to 140,000m 3 per day by <strong>2006</strong>.<br />
