2004 concentrates on effluent treatment services In April <strong>2005</strong>, PSA Peugeot Citroën outsourced the<br />

environmental management activities of its new factory in Trnava, Slovakia to VE. The eight year<br />

contract will generate revenues of €60 million.<br />

Outsourcing in Asia<br />

Malaysia<br />

In September 2002, VE signed a contract with Petronas for outsourcing services in water treatment<br />

and supply at the Kertih Petrochemical Complex in Malaysia. The 20 year contract does not involve<br />

any investment on the part of Veolia <strong>Water</strong>. The company will operate a potable water production<br />

plant with a capacity of 250,000m 3 /day and a distribution network serving customers such as BP<br />

Chemicals, Mitsui and Union Carbide, which work with Petronas in the petrochemical complex. The<br />

contract will generate revenues of €200 million over its lifetime<br />

The US$1 billion Hyundai Petrochemical’s Daesan contract (January 2000) runs for 20 years. The<br />

Hynix Semiconductors Corporation 12, year €900 million contract for Hyundai of Korea, is the largest<br />

industrial water outsourcing contract in the world to date. The contract calls for four ultra-pure water<br />

plants and two WWTWs. VE is acquiring the company’s water and wastewater facilities for €196<br />

million and will generate €830 million in revenues over the next 12 years. The 10 year effluent<br />

management contract for Millennium Chemicals signed in 2001, is worth €165 million.<br />

Thailand<br />

Global Utilities Services Co. Ltd (Thailand) is a JV between Veolia S.Napa (49%), Industrial Estate<br />

Authority of Thailand (49%), and the IEAT Provident Fund (2%). GUSCO currently has 8 industrial<br />

water management contracts in Thailand, including Sony, Egco, GM and Ford, with a Bht900 million<br />

(US$21.2 million) turnover or US$2.65 million per annum per contract.<br />
