Romania<br />

2003 Zetea DBOT 200,000 bulk water<br />

Amiantit is leading a consortium, the Zetea water supply system management project, which is worth<br />

US$50 million. It involves building a water intake from a lake, a water treatment plant, a 137km<br />

pipeline, and connections to the distribution tanks. The system will supply potable water to 200,000<br />

people. Project implementation started in the spring of 2004 and the water supply system is expected<br />

to be completed by 2007. Amiantit already has ductile iron pipe manufacturing facilities in Romania,<br />

where the company produces its own raw material.<br />

OMC<br />

Operation Management Company Ltd (OMC) provides Operation and Maintenance services of water<br />

and wastewater treatment plants in the Kingdom of Thailand. OMC, through its subsidiary<br />

Wastewater Operation Management Company (WOMC), has formed a joint venture with the Waste<br />

Management Authority of Thailand (WMA) in order to operate and maintain wastewater treatment<br />

plants.<br />

AquaMundo<br />

ABB Kraftswerkstechnik of Germany (ABB AG), GW <strong>Water</strong> Consultants (Bilfinger & Berger AG<br />

(Germany) and MVV Energie AG (Germany), formed the Aquamundo JV in May 2000. AquaMundo<br />

seeks to gain contracts in the planning, financing and operating of water and sewerage projects<br />

worldwide. In April 2003, ABB and Bilfinger & Berger sold their stakes to Inframan. MVV sold its stake<br />

to Inframan in January 2004.<br />

Albania<br />

2003 Four Albanian towns 5 year O&M 400,000 water & wastewater<br />

A JV between Berlinwasser International (60%) and Aquamundo (40%), gained a five year €4 million<br />

contract to take over management of water supply and wastewater disposal in the Albanian towns of<br />

Durres, Fier, Lezhe and Saranda. The project is supported by €20 million in funding from the World<br />

Bank. Sewage treatment will be upgraded to secondary (biological) standards and water supplies will<br />

be improved from four hours daily to a 24 hour supply.<br />

In 2002, Aquamundo gained a 4 year O&M contract for drinking water provision (77,000 people) and<br />

wastewater disposal services (25,000 people) in the town of Kavaja. This project seeks to reduce<br />

unaccounted for water from 40% to 15%, while raising billing from 60% to 95% and to improve access<br />

to water from 4-6 hours to 24 hours a day.<br />

Montenegro<br />

2001 Montenegro 30 year concession <strong>Water</strong> and sewerage<br />

In the former Republic of Yugoslavia, Aquamundo has gained a contract for the proposed<br />

privatisation of water provision services in the state of Montenegro, with investments of €33 million<br />

required during the first five years. The contract covers the coastal municipalities of Herzeg Novi,<br />

Kotor, Tivat, Budva, Bar, Cetinje and most likely later Ulcinj Public Enterprise (PEW) for <strong>Water</strong><br />

ÒCrnogorsko Primorje Ó, BudvaMonteAqua, a public-private water company in which Aquamundo<br />

has the largest shareholding, will manage the 30 year concession.<br />

China<br />

2002 Foshan 20 year concession Sewage treatment<br />

The Aquamundo (45%) and Foshan <strong>Water</strong>works (55%) JV, is to develop and manage the 100,000m³<br />

per day sewage treatment works for the city in Guangdong Province. €30.4 million in capital<br />
