Uruguay<br />

1997 Punta del Este 25 year concession 100,000 water & sewerage<br />

Agbar acquired 60% of Aguas de la Costa at the end of 1997. The concession also carries a 10 year<br />

optional extension from 2018. The area is principally used for tourism and ancillary services.<br />

Colombia<br />

1995 Cartagena 25 year concession 1.1 million water & sewerage<br />

Aguas de Cartanega SA ESP has been profitable since its onset. 44.8% of its shares are held by<br />

Agbar, 50% by Distrito Turistico y Cultura de Cartagena and 5.1% by local shareholders. Agbar’s<br />

stake cost Ptas280 million. Agbar has invested a total of €220 million on the concession to date. In<br />

2004 water coverage was 99% against 73% in 1995, with sewerage coverage at 78% against 61%.<br />

The aim is for 100% water coverage by <strong>2005</strong>. <strong>Water</strong> services have been provided to 350,000 people<br />

since the concession started (93% urban poor) and sewerage services to 240,000 (90% urban poor).<br />

Aguas de Cartagena has 132,000 water customers and 102,000 sewerage customers.<br />

Brazil<br />

2000 Campo Grande 30 year concession 730,000 water & sewerage<br />

Interagua was awarded a water and sewerage contract for Campo Grande in July 2000, which started<br />

operations in October 2000. The contract was awarded to Aguas Guariroba, a venture 50% held by<br />

Agbar, 41% by Cobel and 9% by Sanesul. Total investment will be €155.3 million. Turnover was<br />

€27.7 million in 1999. The concession currently serves 730,479 people for water and 123,536 for<br />

sewerage (17% of the population). <strong>Water</strong> meters were installed for 20,000 customers in 2001.<br />

Sewerage coverage will increase from 30% to 70% in the next five years.<br />

Cuba<br />

Interagua formed Aguas de La Habana, a JV with the Cuban Government in 1999 for two water<br />

management contracts currently serving 525,000 people, with an eventual coverage of 1,400,000<br />

people. The contracts serve La Havana and the resorts of Cayo Coco and Varadero. <strong>Water</strong> supply<br />

systems were renovated for 298,000 people in 2001-02. In February 2000, Interagua was awarded a<br />

25 year water management contract for approximately 1.3 million people in Havana. Altogether these<br />

contracts serve 1.8 million people.<br />

Mexico<br />

2001 Saltillo 25 year concession 650,000 water & sewerage<br />

Agbar has gained 49% of Empresa Paramunicipal, the company responsible for the management of<br />

the drinking water supply and sewerage services in the city of Saltillo, in the state of Coahuila situated<br />

in northern MexiCo. The remaining 51% is to be held by Sistema Municipal de Aguas de Saltillo<br />

(SIMAS). Saltillo was founded in 1577. In 2004, water was supplied to the entire population (146,245<br />

customers), with 92% served by sewerage. During <strong>2005</strong>, the sewerage network will be completed.<br />

Turnover was €21 million in 2001. €81.9 million is to be invested during the contract.<br />

USA<br />

In 1998, Agbar acquired 10% of Western <strong>Water</strong> Co for US$15 million (see separate company entry).<br />
