Energie Ag<br />

Energie Oberösterreich AG is the regional power utility serving Upper Austria. It is 75% held by the<br />

regional government, with EVN holding 9.3%. In December 2003, Energie’s Energie AG Bohemia<br />

acquired AWG’s remaining water interests in the Czech Republic for €115 million. Energie is<br />

concentrating on developing its water activities in Austria and the Czech Republic, but may also seek<br />

to expand into Poland and Hungary.<br />

In Austria, Energie holds two companies: OOE Landeswasserversorgungsunternehmen AG (LWU,<br />

98% share) and WDL Wasserdienstleistung GmbH (WDL, 35% share). LWU serves 29 municipalities<br />

with 130,000 inhabitants. The total amount of drinking water supplied during the 2003 business year<br />

was about 6.2 million m 3 . From 2007, a water transfer project to Burghausen in Bavaria (Germany)<br />

will supply a total of up to 1.5 million m 3 of drinking water per year.<br />

1995 South Bohemia 15 year concession 340,000 water & sewerage<br />

Vodovy a Kanalizace Jizni Cechy (VAKJC), is based in Ceske Budejovice and serves 340<br />

municipalities. VAKJC was privatised in 1994 and AWG of the UK built up a 95.2% stake over the<br />

next five years. VAKJC had revenues of €40.5 million in 2002, providing 36 million m 3 of water. A<br />

further 120,000 are served through bulk water supplies.<br />

2000 Beroun Asset ownership 55,000 water & sewerage<br />

AWG acquired 58.3% of Severomoravske Berounske Vodovy in 2000. SBV owns 30% of the asset<br />

owning entity. Beroun is adjacent to Prague. The company had revenues of €4.8 million in 2002,<br />

providing 3.1 million m 3 of drinking water and treating 4.2 million m 3 of wastewater.<br />
