I couldn’t push her away when she wanted to kiss me and then try to
comfort her. It didn’t work like that. The message was clear.
I cleared my throat, fingers drumming nervously against my thigh.
“Let’s get to bed, okay?. Tomorrow is a long day.” She stared into
nothingness, deep in thoughts.
“Yes, you’re right.” When her eyes met mine she pursed her lips and
managed to give me a small, sad, smile. “Good night, Maddox.”
