side, looking down at Sofia.
She had a smirk on her blood red lips as she muttered words I wish like
hell I could hear. Black sunglasses hid her eyes making her face practically
impossible to see. After that, she nodded once at the girl on the ground and
started walking in the direction she came from, disappearing in the trees.
I immediately grabbed my phone to dial Adam and ask him to get a lead
on the stranger when his name appeared on my screen.
I swore and immediately answered, “I was just going to call you. I need
someone following—“
“Maddox, we have a problem.” His voice was stern but I could hear the
panicked undertone after years of working with him. Ice coursed in my veins
as I waited for the other shoe to drop.
