The smell of a freshly baked cake assaulted my nostrils as soon as I

entered the apartment and it brought the smile right back on my face. I had to

wait ten minutes in front of the door just to catch my breath and let my

heartbeat go back to normal. Ultimately, though, I decided not to let my

impromptu meeting with Conan waste my day, he wasn’t worth it.

I’d have to send AK a message to see if there was anything he could find

on him that would get him off my back. In the meantime, though, I had other

things to focus on. Like spending my twentieth birthday surrounded by my

two favorite people.

“Honey, I’m home.” I sang jokingly and heard Maddox chuckle from the

kitchen. I joined him as soon as I had taken off my shoes and put my keys on

the side table.

He was finishing up cleaning the kitchen, which, I could imagine, had

been a mess with him and Valentina trying to bake with no prior experience.

Putting the bag on the counter, I made my way to Maddox and pecked his

lips.

He wasn’t satisfied with that though and instead deepened the kiss, his

tongue coming out to play with mine. I let out a moan, my hands traveling to

his hair as I pulled his head even closer to mine.

I will never get tired of kissing Maddox Brooks.

“How was your day?” I asked as soon as we pulled away to breathe. His

hands were on my hips, drawing circles.

“Good. We finished the cake, it’s in the fridge. Valentina got a bit cranky

towards the end, kept on saying her stomach hurt.” I frowned, worry twisting

my gut. “At first I thought she was faking to get out of cleaning duty with me,

but I could see she really was hurting so I put her in bed with a hot tea and

some Disney movie on her iPad. That was an hour ago so I think she fell

asleep.” I nodded as he pressed a kiss to my hair.
