“Go ahead, I’ll be right with you.” I hesitated, wanting to hear what Justin

had to say, but ended up listening to Maddox because I didn’t want whatever

the officer had to say to freak Valentina out.

Grabbing my sleeping little sister from Maddox’s arms, I stepped into our

room. It was dark and the only source of light came from the bright moon

shining through the window. I decided not to turn any light on and just laid

Valentina down on the bed.

As I worked on taking off her shoes, an eerie feeling overcame me, I felt

like I was being watched. My blood ran cold and I looked around, but

everything seemed in order. Just like we’d left it earlier today.

Once her shoes were on the floor, and her coat was at the foot of the bed,

I sighed, putting my earlier feelings on the fact that I was stressed since we

still hadn’t heard back from Callie. Maybe a bath would help me relax too.

I got up, walked to the bathroom and closed the door after me. Not

wanting the lights to be too bright, I put them on dim and faced the mirror, my

hands clutching the hem of my shirt.

That’s when I froze, eyes wide, heart in my throat, because, guess what? I

realized I was not alone in the room.

A man stood behind me with a black hood on, hiding his face.

I shrieked at the top of my lungs before fear could make me speechless.

It seemed like monsters never truly died after all.
