Looking up at the ceiling as I laid naked in Maddox’s bed with his arms
around me, I couldn’t help but think about how quickly my life had changed
in the space of a few months.
A few months back, I’d thought I had nothing left to lose, that my life was
doomed and I wouldn’t ever get to experience happiness. My only goal was
to make sure Valentina didn’t get dealt the same hand, that she would actually
have everything I had lacked growing up.
Now, though, it felt like my happiness was a possibility. Ever since
Maddox came into the picture, he turned everything upside down but only in
the best ways possible. He managed to get a special place in my heart, he
actually came to mean so much to me in such a small amount of time, it made
me feel dizzy.
But I was happy. For the first time in what felt like forever, I was truly
fucking happy.
Maddox’ hands were playing with my hair, and I rubbed my face against
his chest, inhaling his scent. After that earth wrecking orgasm, we quietly
showered together and got into bed, just enjoying each other’s presence
without speaking. I was just thinking we both were lost in our heads when his
voice resonated.
“Penny for your thoughts, baby?” I bit my lip and wrapped an arm around
him.
“I’m just thinking of how much my life has changed since you became a
permanent part of it. I used to dread my future, but with you, it feels like
something I should look forward to instead.”
