a good person, Sofia. Sure, you used to drive me out of my mind sometimes,
and I’ll always be the police officer that kept you from spreading your art on
Lakestone’s citizens private properties,” She chuckled sadly and a small
smile pulled at the corner of my lips. “But I like to think we’re friends. And
that’s what friends do, they help each other.” Gold orbs shone with tears as
they lingered on me.
Her hand came up on top of mine and she leaned her head into it, like a
cat seeking comfort. After the last couple of days, it wasn’t surprising.
“Thank you.”
Her tongue came out to wet her lips, and she never looked as beautiful as
she did in that moment, with the moonlight bathing her skin, her golden eyes
shining like a million stars, hair cascading around her face like a halo of
darkness. Sofia Raymond was a work of art

SOFIA
When I woke up again the next morning, I felt much better. Like some
weight had been lifted off my chest, and in a way, I guess it had. Knowing
Maddox was on my side and was willing to help any way he could reassured
me a lot. It felt strange knowing I was not alone in this anymore, that I could
delegate a bit and not constantly worry about Valentina or our current
situation alone.
It was nice knowing someone had my back.
A knock resonated on my door just as I came out of the bathroom and I
said “Come in!” Without really thinking about it, assuming it was Maddox.
I was dressed in a white bathrobe embroidered with the hotel’s logo,
rubbing my hair dry with a matching towel since my hairdryer was at the
house. I knew sooner or later I’d have to go back there and gather the rest of
my stuff.
