breathing eased a little bit.
“V-Valentina! Where is she?” Her eyes were frantic as she gripped my
forearm, looking at me with crazy eyes.
For a minute I wondered if she even recognized me. I had never seen her
so frazzled. It was insane, but even the night of the murders she somehow
seemed more collected than she did now.
“Sofia, calm down okay? You passed out, you need to breathe.”
“Don’t fucking tell me what to do!” She hissed and for a second I was the
one who didn’t recognize her. She was feral, not herself. “Where the fuck is
Valentina, Maddox? Tell me now or I swear to God—“
“Calm the fuck down!” I grasped her arms when she tried to get up and
pushed her into the mattress.
The minx kept on trying to free herself, she scratched my wrists, screamed
at me, but I wouldn’t budge.
“You don’t understand! Let me get to my sister!” I had never seen her so
mad, she was freaking out. “Let me go! She needs me!” I didn’t let her go. I
couldn’t. She wasn’t thinking straight and I wouldn’t let her scare Valentina
more than she already was.
Eventually though, her screams and glares turned into sobs and tears, as
she stopped struggling and slumped down on the mattress. Her cries shook
her body and I felt tears gathering in my own eyes. The energy in the room
was tense and thick, we were both on edge.
Grabbing her, I brought her closer to my chest and she wrapped her arms
around my neck tiredly as she sat on my lap. I started rubbing her back and
rocking her softly so she would calm down. Sofia kept on crying, and
somehow I didn’t think it was just for what happened earlier.
