“You barely ever speak about your parents, about that night! You think I
don’t know you have nightmares every time you fall asleep? You fucking cry
in your sleep, Sofia! And the way you reacted the day Valentina had her
accident says it all, goddammit. You’re traumatized and you don’t even care
enough to help yourself or your sister!”
Fire blazed in her eyes and I could see my words truly her feelings. I
regretted them instantly.
“How fucking dare you.” Her words were so cold. “How fucking dare
you, Maddox.”
I gulped, a hand passing through my hair.
“Listen, I understand how hard it can be to admit you need help and
actually seek it. But, baby, put yourself in my shoes. I wake up in the middle
of the night only to see my girl crying right next to me, not even aware that
she is crying. I want to help you, that’s all I’ve ever wanted— to give you
and Valentina all you need and want, but I– …there are some things I can’t do
on my own. I want you to get better and in order to do that, we’ll have to get
you to talk to someone.”
I took a step towards her, wanting to take her in my arms but she stood
away from me.
“You want to give me what I want? What I need? Let us fucking deal with
it how we please. I refuse to talk to anyone and Valentina won’t either.
Especially not to that bitch working here. That’s the end of this fucking
