It hurt to hear her say that, it really did. But again, I deserved it.

Following after her, I closed my door and opened Valentina’s to get her out.

The princess was still fast asleep, mumbling about Gilbert in her dreams.

That brought a smile to my face but it went down as soon as my eyes met

Sofia’s. She looked at me with a mixture of yearning, disappointment and

wariness.

I hated it. If I could turn back time and punch myself in the face to keep

me from uttering that useless threat, I would have.

I knew in the end I was right, Valentina did need to see someone. But the

means I’d used to get my point across were far from right.

I held Valentina in my arms as Sofia grabbed the huge bear which was

almost her size and locked my car. We walked to the apartment in silence and

once inside, I deposited our girl in her bed. Sofia put Gilbert in a corner and

started rummaging through Valentina’s closet for a set of pajamas. I stood in

the middle of the pink room awkwardly as she blatantly ignored me. Once

she had the clothes in hands she made her way to the bed before looking

expectantly at me.

“I got it from here, you can go to your room.” I hated the way she

dismissed me. I hated the way she called it my room when it was supposed to

be our room, even more.

“I’ll wait for you to come to bed so we can talk.”

“Don’t hold your breath.” I tried to catch her gaze but she wouldn’t look

at me and started to take Valentina’s shoes off instead.

I cleared my throat, but seeing no reaction from her I simply walked back

to my room, shoulders slumped.

I spent two hours sitting in bed, waiting for her to join me.

She never did.
