Sofia kept insulting Harrison in Spanish, her hands flying everywhere,

eyes red with tears, her voice hoarse from screaming. I’d never seen her so

mad before, but I knew her anger probably emanated from fear.

That son of a bitch must have scared the shit out of her, reminding her of a

night I was sure she would much rather forget.

“Me cago en la puta madre, cabrón! ¡Vete al diablo!”

Instead of staying put or even trying to flee, Harrison grabbed his camera,

which was hanging around his neck. I could see it now that Sofia wasn’t in

front of him anymore. He started taking pictures of her as she continued

yelling, probably thinking about the piece of shit article he’d be able to write

with that.

“Son of a bitch.”

I pushed Sofia behind me and took hold of the camera, smashing it on the

floor. It took superhuman strength to keep myself from knocking the fucker

out. When I punched that journalist a few days ago for daring to touch Sofia,

Chief Piersons almost ripped me a new one. Adding a second name to that

list would probably get me off the case and I couldn’t risk that.

Harrison didn’t take well to his toy being destroyed, and started

complaining and threatening to sue me. That man was ridiculously too sure of

himself and clearly didn’t know anything about law if he thought me

destroying his camera would encompass him trespassing and assaulting a

victim, who by the way, was under police protection.

“Get him to the station, I don’t want to see his face anymore.” Justin and

Ian, the second officer who came in earlier, obeyed without question,

handcuffing the scumbag and taking him out of my sight.

Sofia calmed down a little, she wasn’t yelling anymore, but her breathing

still wasn’t back to normal if her heaving chest was any clue.
