"The Government of the United Kingdom has examined the reservation made by the
Government of Qatar on 11 January 200 in respect of the Convention, which reads as follows:
" ... with reservation as to: (a) Any interpretation of the provisions of the Convention
that is incompatible with the precepts of Islamic law and Islamic religion."
The Government of the United Kingdom noted that a reservation which consists of a
general reference to national law without specifying its contents does not clearly define for
the other States Parties to the Convention the extent to which the reserving State has accepted
the obligations of the Convention. The Government of the United Kingdom therefore
object to the reservation made by the Government of Qatar."

Le Gouvernement du Royaume-Uni a examin6 la reserve faite par le Gouvernement
qatarien A la Convention le 11 janvier 2000, qui est ainsi conque:
« ... en dmettant des rdserves concernant :
a) Toute interpr6tation des dispositions de la Convention qui soit incompatible avec
les pr6ceptes du droit islamique et de la religion islamique; >>.
Le Gouvemement du Royaume-Uni note qu'une reserve consistant en un renvoi
gdndral au droit national, sans prrcisions quant A son contenu, ne drfinit pas clairement
