The State of Bremen and its adjoining region has around<br />
2,000 companies in the logistics branch, including big<br />
names such as Kühne+Nagel, DB Schenker, Fiege or Hellmann<br />
as well as medium-sized logistics firms and forwarders<br />
such as Leschaco, Röhlig, Reimer or EKB. They<br />
work primarily for big industry that needs a large number<br />
of logistics services for the production and distribution<br />
of its finished goods on the German and international<br />
markets. Such companies include food producers such as<br />
KELLOGG, Mondelez (formerly Kraft Foods: Jacobs coffee,<br />
Milka, Philadelphia) and Melitta, as well as Airbus, Daimler,<br />
satellite specialist OHB and Bremerhaven’s wind energy<br />
branch. Bremen’s logistics companies also operate inter -<br />
national networks with customers all around the world,<br />
organising transport services on water, on land and in the<br />

Germany’s Number One: the GVZ<br />
Many logistics companies have settled in the GVZ (freight<br />
village) at Neustädter Hafen on the left bank of the Weser.<br />
The GVZ is a kind of special commercial estate, primarily<br />
for forwarders and service providers in the logistics branch<br />
totalling more than 140 in number with more than 5,500<br />
