Die Kammerphilharmonie ist nicht nur ein Orchester mit Weltruf, ihre

standing: the musicians are also involved in social projects in Bremen.

without each other.
This proximity can be tiring but also incredibly helpful, as
illustrated by the example of the “future lab” of the Deut -
sche Kammerphilharmonie at Gesamtschule Ost (Bremen
East Comprehensive School) since 2007. The orchestra not
only rehearses on the school premises, it also works together
with the pupils and the people living in the Osterholz-Tenever
district to develop minor and major music
projects. With amazing success. Together with many other
awards, in 2012 the Kammerphilharmonie also received an
Echo Classic. Another cultural export hit from Bremen that
is being emulated in many other cities.
This doesn’t have to be all. There are signs that theatre
manager Michael Börgerding and his unconventional
team will soon be drawing national attention to the
Bremer Theater again. It is still too early to start making
comparisons with the Hübner era, but the spirit of op -
timism is already noticeable.
