The fifth season is fair time: Bremen’s Freimarkt is held
during the last fortnight in October with around 50 rides
and altogether 300 showmen to provide all the excitement
and fun of the fair on the Bürgerweide fairground.
Attracting around four million visitors every year, this is
one of the largest fairs in North Germany.
Best of all: Bremen’s visitors can travel from the airport not
just directly to the city centre and to the central station.
Here on Bürgerweide is where they’ll find the largest event
facility, the ÖVB Arena, and right next to it half a dozen
exhibition halls that make Bremen a trade-fair and congress
city. Those who simply remain on the train soon
arrive at the university. From here it’s not far on foot to the
Universum Science Centre, one of the first of its kind in
Europe.
