Die Metropolregion Bremen-Oldenburg im Nordwesten ist eine Modellregion

The Metropolitan Region Bremen-Oldenburg in the Northwest is a model
region for testing electromobility.
One of the main reasons why e-cars currently only occupy
a small niche consists in the high costs and the weight of
batteries with high storage capacity. But actual experience
gained up to now in the model region makes Busse think
that these problems are less relevant in practice. “Our 100
test vehicles are mainly used for distances of up to 50 kilometres”,
he says. “Furthermore, the region also has a very
high share of single-family dwellings with a garage or
parking space. In other words, most users can recharge
the vehicle at home without any problems.”
The practical testing of e-mobiles as a model region pro -
ject is being continued by the Business Initiative Electromobility
(UI EIMo), which is an amalgamation of 80 companies
in the Bremen-Oldenburg region. Altogether 160
electric vehicles and 200 recharging stations should introduce
potential users to the new driving experience. Busse
is convinced: “E-mobility is an important topic for Bremen.
Here in the region we can make a great contribution to
putting a new form of mobility to practical use.”
