Structural equation modeling was used to test <strong>the</strong> path relationships among <strong>the</strong> variables. Figure 1
shows that <strong>the</strong> research model fits <strong>the</strong> data very well. The χ 2 /df <strong>of</strong> 30.90/18 (1.72) is below <strong>the</strong>
recommended value <strong>of</strong> 5.0 (Hair et al., 2006). The four major indices (NFI = 0.97, NNFI = 0.98, CFI =
0.99, GFI = 0.96) are all above <strong>the</strong> recommended level <strong>of</strong> 0.90 (Hair et al. 2006). RMSEA is 0.058.
The standardized path coefficients for <strong>the</strong> structural model are presented in Table 2.
It is apparent that repatriate perceptions <strong>of</strong> repatriation support have a positive and significant
influence on perceptions regarding social climate; γ11 = 0.54 (t = 7.12, p < 0.001). Hypo<strong>the</strong>sis 1 (which
proposed that perceptions regarding repatriation support will have a positive influence on repatriates’
perceptions regarding social climate) is thus supported. This finding is similar to those proposed in
Collins and Smith (2006) but is specific to repatriation.
However, repatriate perceptions <strong>of</strong> repatriation support have a negative and significant influence on
