forth the fragrance <strong>of</strong> frankincense and myrrh, and the trees<br />

also were similar.<br />

XXX. i. And above that (even) above these, above the<br />

Eastern Mountain and not far distant, I saw another place,<br />

valleys (fed) with unfailing streams. 2. And I saw a<br />

beautiful tree, which resembles a fragrant tree such as the<br />

mastic. 3. And on the sides <strong>of</strong> those valleys I saw sweet-<br />

smelling cinnamon. And passing over these I drew nigh to<br />

the east.<br />

XXXI. 1. And I saw other mountains on which there were<br />

trees, and there flowed forth <strong>from</strong> them as it were nectar, and<br />

it is named Sarira and Galbanum. 2. And over that<br />

mountain I saw another mountain whereon were aloe-trees<br />

and those trees were full <strong>of</strong> a hard substance like almonds.<br />

3. And the taste <strong>of</strong> that fruit (lit. 'when one took <strong>of</strong> that<br />

fruit ') was better than all fragrant odours.<br />

XXXII. 1. And after these fragrant odours, as I looked to-<br />

wards the north, over the mountains, I saw seven mountains<br />

full <strong>of</strong> choice nard and aromatic trees and cinnamon and<br />

pepper. 2. And thence I went over the summits <strong>of</strong> those<br />

and FHLNO give the fragrance <strong>of</strong> which is like the fragrance<br />

<strong>of</strong> mastic.'<br />

XXXI. 1. <strong>The</strong>re flowed forth <strong>from</strong> them as it were nectar.<br />
