your sins because ye execute judgment on the righteous upon<br />

earth. 11. And He will summon to testify against you<br />

cloud and mist and dew and rain ; for they will all be with-<br />

held by you <strong>from</strong> descending upon you, and that because <strong>of</strong><br />

your sins. 12. And now give presents to the rain that it<br />

be not withheld <strong>from</strong> descending upon you, nor yet the dew,<br />

when it has received gold and silver <strong>from</strong> you that it may<br />

descend. 13. When the hoar-frost and snow with their<br />

chilliness and all the winds <strong>of</strong> the snow with all their plagues<br />

fall upon you, in those days ye will not be able to stand<br />

CI. 1. Ye children. So G G 1 M. Other MSS. ' all ye children/<br />

heavenly powers which have witnessed testify against sinners, as they have<br />

the sins <strong>of</strong> the wicked will testify been withholden on account <strong>of</strong> their<br />

against them : cf. xcviii. 6-8 ; also sins. This is exactly in keeping with<br />

xcvii. 7 ; civ. 8. In Hab. ii. 1 1 this lxxx, one <strong>of</strong> the chapters interpolated<br />

testimony is given by the stones and in lxxii-lxxxii : cf. Jer. iii. 3. 12.<br />
