fore fear not, ye that suffer ; for healing will be your portion,<br />

and a bright light will enlighten you, and you will hear the<br />

voice <strong>of</strong> rest <strong>from</strong> heaven. 4. Woe unto you, ye sinners, for<br />

your riches make you appear like the righteous, but your<br />

hearts convict you <strong>of</strong> being sinners, and this word will be a<br />

testimony against you, for a memorial <strong>of</strong> (your) wickedness.<br />

5. Woe to you who devour the finest <strong>of</strong> the wheat and drink<br />

the power <strong>of</strong> the source <strong>of</strong> the fountain, and tread under foot<br />

the lowly with your might. 6. Woe to you who drink<br />

water at all times ;<br />

for suddenly will you be requited and will<br />

dry up and wither, because ye have forsaken the fountain <strong>of</strong><br />

life. 7. Woe to you who work unrighteousness and deceit<br />

and blasphemy: it will be a memorial against you for evil.<br />

8. Woe to you, ye mighty, who with might oppress the<br />

righteous ; for the day <strong>of</strong> your destruction will come. In<br />

taken <strong>from</strong> Is. ii. 10, 19, 21, and are perity was a mark <strong>of</strong> righteousness,<br />

used there <strong>of</strong> those who flee through This word, i. e. that your riches<br />

fear <strong>from</strong> the presence <strong>of</strong> the Lord. prove you to be righteous. For a<br />
