( ) to check the focus. Keep changing the focus and refreshing the scan<br />

until you are happy with the results.<br />

The displayed value on the bottom of the Field Image window (AF Offset:)<br />

changes as you adjust the focus knob.<br />

6. When the scan image appears as desired, click the Set Focus Offset button to<br />

set the current value of the <strong>User</strong> Offset.<br />

The new <strong>User</strong> Offset is used for all scans in the current Workspace. However,<br />

the new value is not saved to the Workspace file until the Workspace is saved.<br />

Note: If the scan completes before you click the Set Focus Offset button, the<br />

offset returns to zero, the Set Focus Offset is deactivated, and the Adjust<br />

Focus Offset button is cleared. Additionally, the focus knob is disabled<br />

while scanning.<br />

Saving a <strong>User</strong> Focus Offset<br />

After the <strong>User</strong> Offset has been set, click on Save Workspace to preserve the new<br />

value in the Workspace File. If you exit <strong>iCys</strong> without saving the Workspace file,<br />

the new offset will be lost, and the next time you load that Workspace file the<br />

previous value will be loaded.<br />

The Scan View Status Bar<br />

The Status bar is at the bottom of the Scan View window. It provides the following<br />

information:<br />

Status Detail Meaning<br />

Cursor position The XY coordinates of the cursor position either in<br />

microns or pixels.<br />

Pixel value The intensity of the pixel over which the cursor is<br />

hovering. Values can range from 0 to 16383.<br />

Scan number The number of the current scan.<br />

Zoom value The magnification factor as set by the Zoom in and Zoom<br />

out buttons.<br />

Grid Size Displays the Grid size in pixels<br />

AutoFocus offset If applicable, the offset established using the Adjust focus<br />

offset and Set focus offset buttons.<br />
