Administrator Tasks Defining Custom Carriers<br />

➣ To define a new microplate carrier:<br />

1. From the Manage Carrier Types window, select New. The Edit Carrier Type<br />

window displays:<br />

2. In the General tab, set the following:<br />

❍ Type—Microplate. To define a freeform carrier, see “Defining a Freeform<br />

Carrier” on page C-16.<br />

❍ Name—Enter a meaningful name for this carrier type. The carrier name will<br />

appear in the drop down list in the carrier window.<br />

❍ Description—Optional, but useful.<br />

❍ Visibility—Select Hidden if you want to make this carrier type unavailable<br />

from the Instrument Setup window. The visibility can be overwritten by the<br />

Hide/UnHide button on the Carrier Types list.<br />

CompuCyte automatically fills out the Created by and ID fields. The ID is unique<br />

ID for each carrier.<br />

3. To view the carrier while you are defining it, click Carrier from the task bar.<br />

When you click Save on the Edit Carrier Type window, the Carrier window<br />

updates to reflect the changes.<br />

4. Before you start describing the dimensions, make sure that the microscope<br />

objective selected in the current Workspace matches the objective you are using.<br />

The objective is set in the Objective window in the task bar.<br />
