Inspection (Cont’d)<br />

Check the needle bearing (Item 1) [A] in the housing for<br />

proper operation.<br />

If the bearing must be replaced, use the correct driver to<br />

remove and install the bearing. The numbered end of the<br />

bearing must be installed toward the insi<strong>de</strong> of the pump<br />

housing. When installed correctly, the end of the bearing<br />

must measure 0.08–0.10 inch (2,0–2,5 mm) above the<br />

machined housing surface.<br />

Check the locating spring pin (Item 2) [A].<br />

The pin must measure 0.165–0.185 inch (4,19–4,70 mm)<br />

from the housing to the end of the pin.<br />

Check the swashplate (Item 1) [B] and valve plate (Item<br />

2) [B].<br />

The surface finish must be smooth and free of scratches.<br />

If scratches can be felt with a fingernail, replace the parts.<br />

Check the four small holes in the swashplate surface to<br />

make sure they are open.<br />

Check the gui<strong>de</strong> pin (Item 3) [B].<br />

The gui<strong>de</strong> pin must measure 0.29–0.31 inch (7,4–7,9<br />

mm) from the swashplate surface to the end of the pin.<br />

Check the spring pin (Item 4) [B].<br />

The spring pin must be installed with the split toward the<br />

center of the swashplate. The spring pin must measure<br />

0.33–0.5 inch (8,4–8,9 mm) from the swashplate to the<br />

end of the pin.<br />

Check the end of the piston block. The surface must be<br />

smooth and free of scratches [C].<br />

Check that each piston moves freely in its bore [D].<br />

Check each piston and piston shoe for wear or scratches.<br />

Check the cylin<strong>de</strong>r bores in the piston block for wear or<br />

scratches.<br />

Check the shoe plate. The shoe plate must be flat with no<br />

sign of cracks or wear.<br />
