TIMING GEARCASE COVER SEAL<br />

Removal and Installation<br />

The tool listed will be nee<strong>de</strong>d to do the following<br />

procedure:<br />

MEL1265 – Crankshaft Front Oil Seal Installer<br />

Remove the alternator and belt. (See Page 6–1.)<br />

Remove the bolt at the crankshaft pulley [A].<br />

Installation: Tighten the bolt to 123–152 ft.–lbs.<br />

(167–206 Nm) torque.<br />

Install a standard puller and remove the crankshaft pulley<br />

[B].<br />

Use a screwdriver and pry the front seal out of the timing<br />

case cover [C].<br />

Use the seal installation tool and install the new seal [D].<br />
