Strategy Statement<br />

<strong>Eastern</strong> <strong>Suffolk</strong> <strong>BOCES</strong> Instructional Programs Division will develop a new<br />

delivery model for summer special education services that aligns the delivery of<br />

summer services for special education students with NYSED regulations for<br />

delivery of such services, assures appropriate staffing, assures safety of all<br />

students receiving summer services, and maximizes the efficiency of service<br />

delivery while maintaining a quality program.<br />

By 2001, <strong>Eastern</strong> <strong>Suffolk</strong> <strong>BOCES</strong> will establish a Research and Program<br />

Improvement Department to conduct various types of on-going and longitudinal<br />

research for the purpose of evaluating programs and services and establishing<br />

methods to benchmark progress toward the achievement of strategic objectives<br />

outlined within the action plans of this document.<br />

By November 2002, the Central Shared Decision-Making Committee will have<br />

developed an action plan to support implementation and evaluation of the<br />

revised <strong>Eastern</strong> <strong>Suffolk</strong> <strong>BOCES</strong> <strong>Plan</strong> for Shared Decision-Making and Site<br />

Based Management.<br />

By June 2003, the administration will assess the status of the agency’s<br />

employee evaluation systems to identify strengths and weaknesses and develop<br />

recommendations for improvement.<br />

By June 30, 2003, the administration will plan and implement a program to<br />

improve operational efficiency by promoting cohesiveness among Cabinet and<br />

Administrative Council members.<br />

By June 2003, the administration will design a plan to address the pending<br />

turnover of administrative staff within the agency in order to assure that a strong<br />

“in-house” pool of candidates will be prepared to apply for positions in the future.<br />

By June 30, 2003, the administration will plan and fully implement the<br />

reorganization of the Educational Support and Technology Services Division.<br />
