Uche Peter Umez (Nigeria) is the author of Dark through the Delta<br />
(poems) <strong>and</strong> Aridity of Feelings (poems). His short fiction, children’s<br />
stories, <strong>and</strong> non-fiction have been published at home <strong>and</strong> abroad, online<br />
<strong>and</strong> in print. He has won awards for his short fiction <strong>and</strong> <strong>poet</strong>ry,<br />
<strong>and</strong> is a Fellow of the International Writing Program (USA), Caine Prize<br />

Your mysterious<br />
Fingers Strum<br />
A tune to the bird<br />
Flying unfettered<br />
Unheard<br />
By other birds<br />
In groans of captivity<br />
Wind, lullaby<br />
To my soul<br />
Waft <strong>poet</strong>s’ creative glow<br />
O wind<br />
Above the claws of the ogre.<br />
