MISSION STATEMENT<br />
The mission <strong>of</strong> the College <strong>of</strong> Business<br />
Administr<strong>at</strong>ion is to prepare students from Northeast<br />
<strong>Louisiana</strong> and beyond for productive careers and<br />
responsible citizenship and benefit students, business<br />
and the community through research and service.<br />
The College <strong>of</strong>fers an MBA program on-campus and<br />
abroad, but places primary emphasis on the on-campus<br />
undergradu<strong>at</strong>e degree program. The undergradu<strong>at</strong>e<br />
and gradu<strong>at</strong>e curricula, along with an active approach<br />
to learning, are intended to help both business and<br />
non-business students develop the knowledge, skills,<br />
ethics, and <strong>at</strong>titudes needed for successful careers<br />
and a lifetime <strong>of</strong> learning in a technological and global<br />
environment.<br />
The College emphasizes the interrel<strong>at</strong>edness <strong>of</strong><br />
business disciplines th<strong>at</strong> prepares students for both<br />
specific functional responsibilities within larger<br />
organiz<strong>at</strong>ions and for the wide scope <strong>of</strong> responsibilities<br />
typically encountered within smaller organiz<strong>at</strong>ions.<br />
Gradu<strong>at</strong>es should be able to function effectively in entrylevel<br />
positions, advance to higher positions, particip<strong>at</strong>e<br />
in entrepreneurial ventures, and/or pursue advanced<br />
studies.<br />
The second commitment <strong>of</strong> the College is to cre<strong>at</strong>e<br />
and dissemin<strong>at</strong>e intellectual contributions which will (1)<br />
assist in the growth and development <strong>of</strong> faculty, students,<br />
and business; (2) enhance the learning environment<br />
in business schools; and (3) contribute to economic<br />
development. The College places primary emphasis on<br />
applied scholarship, but also encourages basic research<br />
and instructional development as important parts <strong>of</strong> the<br />
intellectual mission <strong>of</strong> the College.<br />
The third commitment <strong>of</strong> the College is to provide<br />
quality service to the business community, the pr<strong>of</strong>ession,<br />
and the <strong>University</strong>. In particular, the College strives<br />
for st<strong>at</strong>e and regional distinction in activities rel<strong>at</strong>ed<br />
to entrepreneurial and small business development,<br />
and business and economic research. Service nurtures<br />
ties with the business sector, helps keep academic<br />
programs dynamic and relevant, and promotes economic<br />
development, particularly through delivery <strong>of</strong> applied<br />
knowledge to regional organiz<strong>at</strong>ions.<br />
GENERAL INFORMATION<br />
The College <strong>of</strong> Business Administr<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>of</strong>fers B.B.A.<br />
degree options in seven traditional pr<strong>of</strong>essional business<br />
fields. These programs include Accounting, Computer<br />
Inform<strong>at</strong>ion Systems, Finance, General Business,<br />
Management, Marketing, and Risk Management and<br />
Insurance. The traditional business programs are<br />
accredited by the (AACSB), the Associ<strong>at</strong>ion to Advance<br />
Collegi<strong>at</strong>e Schools <strong>of</strong> Business Intern<strong>at</strong>ional.
