4042. INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE II. 3 cr. Continu<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>of</strong> Industrial<br />
Hygiene I. Detailed discussion <strong>of</strong> specific occup<strong>at</strong>ional hazards<br />
continues. Discussions include review <strong>of</strong> properties <strong>of</strong> the hazard,<br />
industrial exposure potential, exposure monitoring techniques,<br />
regul<strong>at</strong>ory standards, and control methodologies. Discussion<br />
regarding indoor air quality, ergonomics issues, and industrial<br />
ventil<strong>at</strong>ion systems is included. Prerequisites: TOXI 4041. F<br />
4043. INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE LABORATORY. 1 cr. A labor<strong>at</strong>ory<br />
dedic<strong>at</strong>ed to the practical applic<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>of</strong> inform<strong>at</strong>ion dissemin<strong>at</strong>ed<br />
in Toxicology 4044. Three hours labor<strong>at</strong>ory. Toxicology majors<br />

general principles, regul<strong>at</strong>ory standards, workplace hazards,<br />
exposure control, problem solving str<strong>at</strong>egies. Prerequisites: TOXI<br />

4091. SEMINAR. 3 cr. Students are required to make oral<br />
present<strong>at</strong>ions and discuss special current problems in the field<br />
<strong>of</strong> toxicology. Involves present<strong>at</strong>ion and class particip<strong>at</strong>ion. A final<br />
comprehensive examin<strong>at</strong>ion will cover all aspects <strong>of</strong> the discipline<br />
<strong>of</strong> toxicology. Prerequisite: credit or registr<strong>at</strong>ion in all required<br />

gives substantive <strong>at</strong>tention to critical thinking, methods <strong>of</strong> inquiry,<br />
written and oral communic<strong>at</strong>ion skills, and computer literacy.<br />
Students are taught to identify, reconstruct, analyze, and critique<br />
reasoned claims. Prerequisite: Completion <strong>of</strong> all courses (a total<br />
<strong>of</strong> 39 hours) in the Core Curriculum.<br />
