Applic<strong>at</strong>ions will be reviewed by the Occup<strong>at</strong>ional<br />
Therapy Admissions Committee.<br />
The department head will notify each applicant regarding<br />
admission st<strong>at</strong>us.<br />
Students accepted into the OCTA program are required<br />
to fulfill the immuniz<strong>at</strong>ion requirements <strong>of</strong> the ULM Student<br />
Health Center. Once accepted into the second segment <strong>of</strong><br />
the Occup<strong>at</strong>ional Therapy Assistant Program, the student<br />
has one academic year to successfully complete the didactic<br />
coursework <strong>of</strong> the program. A student who fails to do so will be<br />
required to appear before the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Louisiana</strong> <strong>at</strong> <strong>Monroe</strong><br />
Occup<strong>at</strong>ional Therapy Academic Performance Committee for a<br />
hearing to determine continu<strong>at</strong>ion in the program.<br />
To progress in the Occup<strong>at</strong>ional Therapy Assistant<br />
Program, a student must complete all required didactic<br />
occup<strong>at</strong>ional therapy courses with a grade <strong>of</strong> “C” or better<br />
in one academic year. A cumul<strong>at</strong>ive 2.500 on a 4.00 scale<br />
is required for continued enrollment. The student must<br />
observe all prerequisites in the sequential pursuance <strong>of</strong><br />
courses leading to an Associ<strong>at</strong>e <strong>of</strong> Science Degree as an<br />
Occup<strong>at</strong>ional Therapy Assistant. All OCTA pr<strong>of</strong>essional<br />
courses must be taken <strong>at</strong> ULM. Students who fail to<br />
successfully meet all OCTA requirements (due to not meeting<br />
competency or based on grade) will be dismissed from<br />
the program. Students may request to appear before the<br />
Academic Performance Committee to determine continu<strong>at</strong>ion<br />
in the program. Before going on Level II Fieldwork clinical<br />
affili<strong>at</strong>ions, students must have a minimum cumul<strong>at</strong>ive grade<br />
point average <strong>of</strong> <strong>at</strong> least 2.500 (uncorrected). The Academic<br />
Performance Committee has the right and responsibility to<br />
impose sanctions on a student who is not in compliance with<br />
ethical, pr<strong>of</strong>essional behavior, or p<strong>at</strong>ient welfare guidelines<br />
<strong>of</strong> the program after following due process guidelines <strong>of</strong> the<br />
program. Sanctions can include dismissal from a course with<br />
a grade <strong>of</strong> “F” and may result in permanent dismissal from the<br />
program. The Occup<strong>at</strong>ional Therapy Academic Performance<br />
committee will determine the re-applic<strong>at</strong>ion st<strong>at</strong>us <strong>of</strong> any<br />
student who does not successfully complete the program.<br />
Students will receive a grade <strong>of</strong> either “CR” or “F” on Level II<br />
Fieldwork experiences.<br />
A student who does not receive a grade <strong>of</strong> “CR” on<br />
any Level II Fieldwork placement shall be dismissed from<br />
the program. A dismissal may be appealed before the<br />
Occup<strong>at</strong>ional Therapy Academic Performance Committee to<br />
determine if repe<strong>at</strong>ed or additional coursework could justify<br />
readmission. All cases before the O.T. Academic Performance<br />
Committee will be reviewed on an individual basis. Students<br />
must complete all Level II Fieldwork requirements within 18<br />
months following the completion <strong>of</strong> occup<strong>at</strong>ional therapy<br />
content courses.<br />

The Radiologic Technology curriculum is composed <strong>of</strong><br />
two segments, pre-radiologic technology and pr<strong>of</strong>essional<br />
radiologic technology. Pre-radiologic technology is the<br />
segment comprising four academic semesters, or the<br />
equivalent, in an accredited college or university. It is<br />
concerned with instruction in general educ<strong>at</strong>ion and the<br />
basic physical and biological sciences to prepare the<br />
student for pr<strong>of</strong>essional Radiologic Technology. The<br />
pr<strong>of</strong>essional program in radiologic technology consists<br />
<strong>of</strong> four academic semesters plus two summer sessions<br />
between the junior and senior years, or the equivalent,<br />
after admission to the pr<strong>of</strong>essional program in Radiologic<br />
Technology. It is concerned with instruction in pr<strong>of</strong>essional<br />
Radiologic Technology and rel<strong>at</strong>ed courses to prepare<br />
the student for the pr<strong>of</strong>essional practice <strong>of</strong> radiologic<br />
technology.<br />
Off-campus clinical activities are required <strong>of</strong> each<br />
student. Students are financially responsible for these<br />
activities.<br />
ADMISSION TO PRE-RADIOLOGIC<br />
TECHNOLOGY<br />
Applicants for admission to the Pre-Radiologic<br />
Technology curriculum must meet the general admission<br />
requirements for admission to the <strong>University</strong>. Applic<strong>at</strong>ions<br />
are to be submitted to the <strong>University</strong> Admissions Office.<br />
ADMISSION TO THE PROFESSIONAL<br />
PROGRAM IN RADIOLOGIC TECHNOLOGY<br />
The pr<strong>of</strong>essional program in Radiologic Technology<br />
is taught in conjunction with the clinical facilities<br />
<strong>at</strong> local medical centers. Admissions are determined<br />
annually based upon the availability <strong>of</strong> clinical positions.<br />
Preference is extended to <strong>Louisiana</strong> residents and/or ULM<br />
scholarship recipients.
