3. ACT/SAT SCORE: Official scores from<br />
either the ACT or SAT should be submitted<br />
electronically to ULM and must be received prior<br />

org. Tests are given <strong>at</strong> design<strong>at</strong>ed centers in<br />
September, October, December, February, April,<br />
and June. Intern<strong>at</strong>ionally, tests are administered<br />
<strong>at</strong> design<strong>at</strong>ed centers in October, December,<br />
February, April, and June. Register online or<br />
call (319) 337-1270. SAT (ULM Code-6482)<br />
inform<strong>at</strong>ion is available <strong>at</strong> www.s<strong>at</strong>.collegeboard.<br />
org. It is administered <strong>at</strong> design<strong>at</strong>ed centers in<br />
September, October, December, February, April,<br />
and June. Tests are administered intern<strong>at</strong>ionally<br />
as well. Register online or by mail. Detailed<br />
inform<strong>at</strong>ion on both tests is also available from<br />
high school principals or counselors.<br />
MINIMUM ADMISSION STANDARDS<br />
First-Time Freshmen<br />
To be eligible for immedi<strong>at</strong>e admission, a first-time<br />
freshman student must:<br />
1. Complete the Regents Core: 19 units (from Core<br />
Curriculum). Those courses in the English, M<strong>at</strong>h,<br />
Science, Social Studies, Foreign Language, and Art<br />
c<strong>at</strong>egories as defined in the Core 4 Curriculum listed<br />
in the Department <strong>of</strong> Educ<strong>at</strong>ion Bulletins 741.<br />

2. Earn a 2.35 minimum overall high school GPA, and<br />
3. Require no more than one developmental course:<br />
Minimum ACT subscore:<br />
• English ≥ 18 (SAT Verbal ≥ 450)<br />
• M<strong>at</strong>hem<strong>at</strong>ics ≥ 19 (SAT M<strong>at</strong>h ≥ 460)<br />
4. And meet one <strong>of</strong> the following requirements:<br />
• 2.00 minimum Core GPA, or<br />
• 21 minimum ACT composite score<br />
For admissions purposes, a First-Time Freshman<br />
is a student under the age <strong>of</strong> 25 who has never <strong>at</strong>tended<br />
any college or other post-secondary institution. This<br />
includes students enrolled in the fall term who <strong>at</strong>tended<br />
college for the first time in the prior summer term and<br />
those who entered with college credit earned before<br />
gradu<strong>at</strong>ion from high school.<br />
Students who are 25 years or older must refer to<br />
Adult Learner admissions standards.<br />
All students are encouraged to apply for<br />
admission even if they do not meet the above criteria.<br />
Such applic<strong>at</strong>ions will be reviewed on an individual basis<br />
and evalu<strong>at</strong>ed to determine likelihood <strong>of</strong> success <strong>at</strong> ULM.<br />
RECRUITMENT AND ADMISSIONS 29<br />
Intern<strong>at</strong>ional students should refer to ULM<br />
Admission Standards for Intern<strong>at</strong>ional Students.<br />
Students who are not admitted to ULM should<br />
consider a 2 + 2 Community College.<br />
TRANSFER STUDENTS (under age 25)<br />
1. APPLICATION: Complete and submit an<br />
undergradu<strong>at</strong>e applic<strong>at</strong>ion and pay the<br />
appropri<strong>at</strong>e admission fee online <strong>at</strong> www.ulm.<br />
edu/apply (a paper applic<strong>at</strong>ion may also be<br />
downloaded and completed)..<br />
2. TRANSCRIPTS: Request the Registrar <strong>of</strong> each<br />
college or university forward a complete and<br />
<strong>of</strong>ficial transcript <strong>of</strong> work. An <strong>of</strong>ficial transcript is<br />
one mailed directly from one institution to another<br />
and bears the institution’s seal, Registrar’s<br />
sign<strong>at</strong>ure, and d<strong>at</strong>e <strong>of</strong> issuance. Transcripts<br />
should be mailed to the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Louisiana</strong> <strong>at</strong><br />
<strong>Monroe</strong>, Office <strong>of</strong> Recruitment/Admissions, 700<br />
<strong>University</strong> Ave., <strong>Monroe</strong>, LA 71209-1160.<br />
3. IF FEWER THAN 18 COLLEGE-LEVEL<br />
ACADEMIC HOURS EARNED: A transfer<br />
applicant who has earned fewer than 18 collegelevel<br />
academic hours will be considered a First-<br />
Time Freshman for admissions purposes. See<br />
previous section for selective admissions criteria<br />
and applic<strong>at</strong>ion inform<strong>at</strong>ion<br />
4. ACT/SAT SCORES: ULM reserves the right to<br />
require ACT/SAT scores for transfer students<br />
whose grades earned do not reflect s<strong>at</strong>isfactory<br />
college-level performance.<br />
MINIMUM ADMISSION STANDARDS<br />
Transfer Students<br />
To be eligible for immedi<strong>at</strong>e admission, a transfer<br />
student must have earned:<br />
a transferable associ<strong>at</strong>e degree (AA or AS), or<br />
1) 18 college-level academic hours, with a<br />
2) 2.00 minimum GPA, and<br />
3) have completed a college-level English AND<br />
a college-level m<strong>at</strong>hem<strong>at</strong>ics course designed to fulfill<br />
general educ<strong>at</strong>ional requirements.<br />
• A Transfer Student is a new applicant to ULM who<br />
has previously <strong>at</strong>tended another US postsecondary<br />
institution. The DOES NOT include students enrolled<br />
for the first time in the summer.<br />
• Students transferring from non-US postsecondary<br />
institutions must meet minimum standards.<br />
Admissions decisions will be made after receipt <strong>of</strong><br />
academic transcript evalu<strong>at</strong>ion from an accredited<br />
evalu<strong>at</strong>ion service (WES is preferred - www.wes.org)
