3034. METHODS AND MATERIALS IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION.<br />
3 cr. M<strong>at</strong>erials, techniques, and methods <strong>of</strong> teaching physical<br />
educ<strong>at</strong>ion in the three different school levels. Prerequisite: Must<br />
be admitted to teacher educ<strong>at</strong>ion.<br />
3035. TEAM SPORTS. 2 cr. Basic skills, str<strong>at</strong>egies, rules, and teaching<br />
procedures <strong>of</strong> selected team sports. Prerequisite: Kinesiology<br />
majors only.<br />
3055. LIFETIME SPORTS. 2 cr. Basic skills, rules, str<strong>at</strong>egies, and<br />
teaching procedures <strong>of</strong> selected individual lifetime sports.<br />
Prerequisite: Kinesiology majors only.<br />
3065. FITNESS. 3 cr. Basic knowledge, values, understanding, and<br />
teaching procedures <strong>of</strong> selected fitness programs. Courses also<br />
includes a review <strong>of</strong> health rel<strong>at</strong>ed fitness testing, risk factors, risk<br />
str<strong>at</strong>ific<strong>at</strong>ion, medical history and HPAA compliance. Prerequisite:<br />
KINS 2011, KINS 2021. Kinesiology majors only.<br />
4002. EXERCISE PROGRAM DESIGN. 3 cr. This course is designed<br />
to apply the principles <strong>of</strong> exercise leadership to clinical and<br />
preventive settings, with particular emphasis on formul<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>of</strong> the<br />
exercise prescription. Prerequisite: KINS 3018. KINS majors only.<br />
4003. TESTS AND MEASUREMENTS IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION. 3<br />
cr. Purposes and needs <strong>of</strong> testing with emphasis on techniques<br />
and administr<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>of</strong> tests in physical educ<strong>at</strong>ion. Prerequisite:<br />
Must be admitted to teacher educ<strong>at</strong>ion.<br />
4006. ADVANCED DRIVER EDUCATION. 4 cr. Curriculum innov<strong>at</strong>ions<br />
and instructional devices (with lab). In-depth study <strong>of</strong> curriculum<br />
m<strong>at</strong>erials and instructional devices and techniques including<br />
simul<strong>at</strong>ion, multi-media, driving range, on-street instruction, and<br />
motorcycle. Instruction in the use <strong>of</strong> all forms supplied by the<br />
St<strong>at</strong>e Department <strong>of</strong> Educ<strong>at</strong>ion. Prerequisites: KINS 3025 and<br />
junior standing.<br />
4008. PHYSICAL ACTIVITY FOR STUDENTS WITH SPECIAL<br />
NEEDS. 3 cr. This course examines how physical activities and<br />
motor skills can be tasked analyzed and modified to include a<br />
wide range <strong>of</strong> individuals with special needs. Basic knowledge,<br />
skills and competencies in Special Educ<strong>at</strong>ion are covered with an<br />
emphasis in pedagogical principles.<br />
4010. EXERCISE IN HEALTH AND DISEASE. 3 cr. Examine the role<br />
<strong>of</strong> physical activity in the prevention <strong>of</strong> chronic disease. Increased<br />
prevalence <strong>of</strong> disease and decreased physical activity will be<br />
examined.<br />
4011. ATHLETIC INJURIES. 3 cr. The prevention and emergency care<br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>at</strong>hletic injuries. Prerequisites: KINS 2011 and junior standing.<br />
Kinesiology majors only.<br />
4017. SCHOOL HEALTH PROBLEMS. 3 cr. School health problems<br />
and current programs <strong>of</strong> prevention and protection against<br />
disease. Prerequisite: junior standing. Educ<strong>at</strong>ion majors only.<br />
4019. MODERN FITNESS. 3 cr. Lectures and exercises designed<br />
to convert deconditioned people to conditioned st<strong>at</strong>us with<br />
sufficient basic knowledge to remain conditioned for a lifetime.<br />
Prerequisite: junior standing.<br />
4027. TRENDS IN ELEMENTARY PHYSICAL EDUCATION. 3 cr.<br />
In-depth study <strong>of</strong> current trends and practices used in teaching<br />
and developing a sound physical educ<strong>at</strong>ion program in the<br />
elementary school. Prerequisite: junior standing.<br />
4031. METHODS AND MATERIALS IN HEALTH EDUCATION. 3 cr.<br />
M<strong>at</strong>erials, techniques, and methods <strong>of</strong> teaching health in schools.<br />
Ten (10) hours <strong>of</strong> classroom observ<strong>at</strong>ion will be completed during<br />
this course. Prerequisite: Must be admitted to teacher educ<strong>at</strong>ion.<br />
4032. ANATOMICAL AND PHYSIOLOGICAL KINESIOLOGY.<br />
3 cr. Applic<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>of</strong> an<strong>at</strong>omy and physiology to analysis and<br />
improvement <strong>of</strong> human performance in gross body movement.<br />

4034. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT IN KINESIOLOGY. 1 cr.<br />
This course is designed as a pre-internship experience th<strong>at</strong> will<br />
provide undergradu<strong>at</strong>e Kinesiology students with the key training<br />
needed to engage in the pr<strong>of</strong>essional activities th<strong>at</strong> are central<br />
to a successful career in the fields <strong>of</strong> kinesiology-rel<strong>at</strong>ed fields.<br />
Although issues <strong>of</strong> substantive, exercise, fitness, sport, and/<br />
or wellness importance n<strong>at</strong>urally will be addressed, the primary<br />
focus will be on the str<strong>at</strong>egies and skills th<strong>at</strong> are needed to<br />
transl<strong>at</strong>e one's substantive knowledge into a successful career<br />
- one th<strong>at</strong> advances both the individual's goals and the general<br />
community goals <strong>of</strong> improved health, decreased disease, and<br />
the reduction <strong>of</strong> health disparity. As this description indic<strong>at</strong>es,<br />
this course is most appropri<strong>at</strong>e for undergradu<strong>at</strong>e students who<br />
will be pursuing careers th<strong>at</strong> emphasize their prepar<strong>at</strong>ion in<br />
kinesiology-rel<strong>at</strong>ed fields. Prerequisite: junior standing and KINS<br />

4035. PRACTICUM IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION (GENERAL). 6 cr.<br />
Observ<strong>at</strong>ion and particip<strong>at</strong>ion in non-teaching physical educ<strong>at</strong>ion,<br />
recre<strong>at</strong>ional or health rel<strong>at</strong>ed programs for one semester.<br />
Prerequisite: Health and physical educ<strong>at</strong>ion major (general).<br />
4037. PHYSIOLOGY OF EXERCISE. 3 cr. Acute and chronic<br />
physiological changes in response to exercise. Emphasis on the<br />
practical applic<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>of</strong> exercise training for health, fitness, and<br />
performance. Prerequisite: junior standing. Kinesiology majors<br />
only. Concurrent enrollment in KINS 4038.<br />
4041. WORKSITE HEALTH PROMOTION. 3 cr. This course is<br />
designed to develop knowledge and awareness <strong>of</strong> the major<br />
issues in the field <strong>of</strong> worksite health promoting programming, as<br />
well as to enhance the ability <strong>of</strong> future practitioners to develop the<br />
pr<strong>of</strong>essional techniques necessary to fulfill wellness programming<br />
needs within corpor<strong>at</strong>e fitness/wellness field. Prerequisites: KINS<br />
2011, 2041 and junior standing.<br />
4043. EPIDEMIOLOGY FOR THE COMMUNITY HEALTH<br />
EDUCATOR. 3 cr. Introduction to community health educ<strong>at</strong>ion/<br />
promotion epidemiology. Prerequisite: KINS 2041.<br />
4044. HEALTH EDUCATION AND PROMOTION PLANNING. 3 cr.<br />
This course will enhance student understanding <strong>of</strong> community<br />

4045. CONTROVERSIAL ISSUES IN HEALTH. 3 cr. Enhances student<br />
ability to research and deb<strong>at</strong>e controversial issues in health.<br />

POPULATIONS. 3 cr. Enhances student ability to deliver health<br />

4047. COMMUNITY HEALTH EDUCATION AND PROMOTION<br />
