4004. ECONOMICS OF INFORMATION. 3 cr. Decision theory,<br />

monetary value <strong>of</strong> inform<strong>at</strong>ion, game theory, inform<strong>at</strong>ion<br />

problems associ<strong>at</strong>ed with insurance markets such as adverse<br />

selection and moral hazard, and the economics <strong>of</strong> bargaining.<br />

Prerequisite: 2002 and junior standing.<br />

4009. GOVERNMENT REGULATION AND CONTROL. 3 cr. Economic<br />

principles as applied to government regul<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>of</strong> business.<br />

The impact <strong>of</strong> legisl<strong>at</strong>ion and commission regul<strong>at</strong>ion on public<br />

policies. The regul<strong>at</strong>ory effect <strong>of</strong> tax laws. Prerequisite 2001,<br />

4010. ECONOMICS OF AGING. 3 cr. An examin<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>of</strong> issues rel<strong>at</strong>ed<br />

to the economic st<strong>at</strong>us <strong>of</strong> persons as they grow older. Attention<br />

will be given to problems and policies which rel<strong>at</strong>e to income<br />

maintenance planned and unplanned expenditures, infl<strong>at</strong>ion,<br />

reduced income, post-retirement employment, public and priv<strong>at</strong>e<br />

pensions, health insurance, pre-retirement counseling and<br />

legisl<strong>at</strong>ive reforms. (Same as GERO 4010) Prerequisite: 2001 or<br />

4020. ECONOMETRICS. 3 cr. Econometric theory and modeling<br />

stressing time series forecasting <strong>of</strong> macroeconomic variables.<br />

Applied analysis using regression techniques with some crosssection<br />

<strong>of</strong> reading, writing, spelling, listening in a balanced literacy<br />

program for students in primary grades. Must be admitted to<br />
