course designed to enhance the student’s knowledge <strong>of</strong> the<br />
demands facing pr<strong>of</strong>essional nurses in current practice settings<br />
based on past and present events. Prerequisite: Completion<br />
<strong>of</strong> NURS 3023, 3025, or 2020, 4004, 4005 or approval <strong>of</strong> the<br />

4039. CONTINUED STUDIES IN NURSING. 1-3 cr. Various topics in<br />
nursing for students not pursuing a degree. Grades <strong>of</strong> CR (Credit)<br />

4040. FAITH COMMUNITY NURSING. 3 cr. Online course introducing<br />
students to a specialty practice th<strong>at</strong> combines pr<strong>of</strong>essional<br />
nursing and health ministry. Prerequisites: NURS 3032, 3034,<br />

4041. PERIOPERATIVE NURSING THEORY. 3 cr. Advanced course<br />
focusing on the study <strong>of</strong> aseptic technique and care <strong>of</strong> p<strong>at</strong>ients<br />
in the oper<strong>at</strong>ing room/recovery room. Emphasis is placed on<br />
perioper<strong>at</strong>ive concepts and principles. Prerequisites: NURS 3004,<br />
3005 or 3007, or Registered Nurse licensure.<br />
4042. PERIOPERATIVE NURSING SCIENCE PRACTICUM. 3 cr.<br />
Clinical study designed to apply principles <strong>of</strong> preoper<strong>at</strong>ive,<br />
oper<strong>at</strong>ive, and postoper<strong>at</strong>ive nursing skills. Supervised clinical<br />
experiences are <strong>of</strong>fered in health care settings th<strong>at</strong> provide<br />
surgical procedures. Prerequisites: NURS 3004, 3005 or 3007, or<br />
Registered Nurse licensure.<br />
4043. ONCOLOGICAL NURSING THROUGH THE LIFE SPAN. 3<br />
cr. Designed to expand the use <strong>of</strong> the nursing process with<br />
oncology p<strong>at</strong>ients. Malignant diseases most frequently occurring<br />
throughout the life cycle are studied. Prerequisites: NURS 3004,<br />
3005 or 3007, or Registered Nurse licensure.<br />
4046. ETHNIC NURSING CARE. 3 cr. Emphasis is placed on the<br />
impact <strong>of</strong> ethnicity in rel<strong>at</strong>ion to health behaviors and nursing<br />

4048. WOMEN’S HEALTH ISSUES. 3 cr. The study <strong>of</strong> women’s health<br />
issues and concerns from a psycho-bio-social perspective.<br />
4049. INTEGRATIVE HEALTH PROMOTION FOR PROFESSIONALS.<br />
3 cr. This course explores integr<strong>at</strong>ive health modalities th<strong>at</strong> will<br />
assist people to address wellness and illness using a variety <strong>of</strong><br />
str<strong>at</strong>egies. This holistic approach to health promotion combines<br />
conventional tre<strong>at</strong>ment with clinically proven complementary and<br />
