solutions as rel<strong>at</strong>ed to farm machinery, livestock, chemicals, and<br />

other rel<strong>at</strong>ed agricultural hazards. Emphasis will be placed on<br />

both the ethics and liabilities associ<strong>at</strong>ed with farm safety.<br />

3001. AGRICULTURAL STATISTICS. 3 cr. Planning, conducting,<br />

and interpreting agricultural experiments. Topics include central<br />

tendency measures and dispersion, hypothesis, hypothesis<br />

testing, and st<strong>at</strong>istical inferences as applied to agricultural d<strong>at</strong>a.<br />

Prerequisite: MATH 1011, 1016.<br />

3010. AGRICULTURAL LECTURES. 1 cr. Lectures to be presented by<br />

pr<strong>of</strong>essional agriculturists. Students will present oral and written<br />

interpret<strong>at</strong>ions <strong>of</strong> current topics rel<strong>at</strong>ing to agriculture.<br />

4001. ANIMAL AND PLANT IMPROVEMENT. 3 cr. Applic<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>of</strong> the<br />

scientific methods, principles, and techniques <strong>of</strong> m<strong>at</strong>ing and<br />

selection systems to improve economically important traits in<br />

animal and plant popul<strong>at</strong>ions.<br />

4005. IRRIGATION PRACTICUM. 3 cr. Principles and techniques in<br />

irrig<strong>at</strong>ion system design.<br />

Supervised work experience with industry in the use <strong>of</strong> m<strong>at</strong>erials<br />

and equipment rel<strong>at</strong>ed to the student’s major field <strong>of</strong> interest. Six<br />

4035. PRINCIPLES OF GIS. 3 cr. Introduction to techniques for<br />

analyzing, displaying, and managing geographic d<strong>at</strong>a topics<br />

including: structure <strong>of</strong> geographic d<strong>at</strong>a bases, principles <strong>of</strong><br />

digital cartography, basic sp<strong>at</strong>ial st<strong>at</strong>istics, and analysis <strong>of</strong> sp<strong>at</strong>ial<br />
