REGISTERED TECHNOLOGIST EDUCATION<br />
PLAN<br />
The Radiologic Technology curriculum provides an<br />
opportunity for registered technologists to be admitted<br />
into the baccalaure<strong>at</strong>e degree program. Technologists<br />
registered by the American Registry <strong>of</strong> Radiologic<br />
Technologists (ARRT) may be awarded forty-three<br />
semester hours <strong>of</strong> credit for their certific<strong>at</strong>ion. At least<br />
32 hours must be completed through the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>Louisiana</strong> <strong>at</strong> <strong>Monroe</strong>. The total number <strong>of</strong> hours for the<br />

ADMISSION TO PRE-SPEECH-LANGUAGE<br />
PATHOLOGY<br />
Applicants for admission to Pre-Speech-Language<br />
P<strong>at</strong>hology curriculum must meet the general admission<br />
requirements for admission to the <strong>University</strong>. Applic<strong>at</strong>ions<br />
are to be submitted to the <strong>University</strong> Admissions Office.<br />
Progression <strong>of</strong> Majors in Speech-Language P<strong>at</strong>hology<br />
Students enrolled in this curriculum are not eligible<br />
for American Speech-Language-Hearing Associ<strong>at</strong>ion<br />
(ASHA) certific<strong>at</strong>ion upon completion <strong>of</strong> the degree plan.<br />
Gradu<strong>at</strong>e work is necessary to secure the Certific<strong>at</strong>e <strong>of</strong><br />
Clinical Competence (CCC) pr<strong>of</strong>essional credentials. All<br />
Speech-Language P<strong>at</strong>hology courses must have a “C” or<br />
better upon gradu<strong>at</strong>ion. A course transferred from another<br />
institution must show a grade <strong>of</strong> “C” or better in order to<br />
be considered for SPLP credit. Only approved 1000- and<br />
2000-level courses may be transferred.<br />
Beginning Summer I, 1995, all students declaring a<br />
SPLP major must meet the following requirements before<br />
applying for regular admission to the degree program: 1)<br />
s<strong>at</strong>isfactory completion <strong>of</strong> any required developmental<br />
course, 2) s<strong>at</strong>isfactory completion <strong>of</strong> all courses under the<br />
“Freshman Year” requirements <strong>of</strong> the SPLP curriculum,<br />
3) s<strong>at</strong>isfactory completion <strong>of</strong> all special requirements <strong>of</strong><br />
the SPLP major. These special requirements include a)<br />
completion <strong>of</strong> SPLP 1013, 1052, 2001, and 2002 with a<br />
“C” or better; b) completion <strong>of</strong> a speech, language, and<br />
hearing screening test; c) an uncorrected cumul<strong>at</strong>ive GPA<br />
<strong>of</strong> 2.75 or better; d) an uncorrected GPA <strong>of</strong> 3.0 or better in<br />
the 1000- and 2000-level SPLP courses, e) SPLP faculty<br />
approval. Note th<strong>at</strong> meeting the basic requirements does<br />
not guarantee th<strong>at</strong> the student will be selected to progress<br />
to upper-level SPLP courses. The above requirements<br />
also apply to transfer students. Applic<strong>at</strong>ions for regular<br />
admission will be reviewed only in the fall semester.<br />
Applic<strong>at</strong>ions are to be completed with the student’s<br />
adviser and forwarded to the department head by October<br />
20 for review.<br />
Speech-Language P<strong>at</strong>hology courses, with the<br />
exception <strong>of</strong> practica and directed studies, can be<br />
repe<strong>at</strong>ed only one time. Before enrollment in SPLP 4002<br />
a student must have 1) completed a speech, language,<br />
and hearing screening while enrolled in SPLP 1013, 2)<br />
completed all courses required during the freshman and<br />
sophomore years as st<strong>at</strong>ed in the c<strong>at</strong>alog; 3) completed<br />
25 hours <strong>of</strong> supervised observ<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>at</strong> approved settings;<br />
4) a cumul<strong>at</strong>ive, uncorrected grade point average <strong>of</strong> 2.75<br />
or better, and 5) an uncorrected grade point average<br />
<strong>of</strong> 3.0 or better in SPLP 1013, 1052, 2001, 2002, 4001,<br />
4028, and 4033.<br />
