• Intern<strong>at</strong>ional students for whom English is a<br />

second language and whose language <strong>of</strong> instruction<br />

is English are required to successfully complete a<br />

ULM English pr<strong>of</strong>iciency test. They must have<br />

completed a college-level M<strong>at</strong>hem<strong>at</strong>ics and be eligible<br />

to enroll in a college-level English course.<br />

• A student desiring to transfer who has earned<br />

fewer than 18 college-level hours must have a 2.0<br />

minimum GPA on college-level academic courses<br />

and must meet admission standards for First-Time<br />

Freshmen.<br />

The requirements listed above are for general<br />

admission to the <strong>University</strong> only. Admission to specific/<br />

pr<strong>of</strong>essional degree programs will be determined <strong>at</strong> the<br />

college level.<br />

All students are encouraged to apply for admission.<br />

Students not meeting the above criteria will be considered<br />

for admission based on an individualized evalu<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>of</strong><br />

their likelihood <strong>of</strong> success <strong>at</strong> ULM.<br />

Applicants with previous college or university<br />

work from regionally accredited institutions may apply<br />

for admission only if eligible to return to the college<br />

or university from which they are transferring. The<br />

Recruitment/Admissions Office will make an admissions<br />

evalu<strong>at</strong>ion upon receipt <strong>of</strong> the applic<strong>at</strong>ion and <strong>of</strong>ficial<br />

transcripts from each college and university previously<br />

<strong>at</strong>tended. Transcripts <strong>of</strong> students who enroll are retained<br />

by the <strong>University</strong> for its <strong>of</strong>ficial files.<br />

Students will be admitted on prob<strong>at</strong>ion according to<br />

current prob<strong>at</strong>ion policy.<br />

Transfer students will be placed on Provisional<br />

Academic Prob<strong>at</strong>ion until all <strong>of</strong>ficial transcripts have been<br />

received and their academic st<strong>at</strong>us has been determined.<br />

Those students placed on Provisional Academic Prob<strong>at</strong>ion<br />

will be suspended from the <strong>University</strong> should they fail to<br />

earn <strong>at</strong> least a C average (2.0) on all hours pursued.<br />

Students on Provisional Academic Prob<strong>at</strong>ion will not<br />

be allowed to enroll <strong>at</strong> ULM for subsequent enrollment<br />

periods, nor will an <strong>of</strong>ficial ULM transcript be released,<br />

until all <strong>of</strong>ficial transcripts or other required missing<br />

credentials have been received.<br />

Students from any other institution <strong>of</strong> higher learning<br />

will not be permitted to enroll while under suspension<br />

unless appeals criteria are met. Previous academic<br />

suspensions will be counted.<br />

Transfer students under academic suspension for<br />

indefinite periods <strong>of</strong> time (length not specified) will not be<br />

considered for admission until such intervals <strong>of</strong> time would<br />

have elapsed had the suspension been incurred <strong>at</strong> ULM.<br />

Evalu<strong>at</strong>ions concerning prob<strong>at</strong>ion, suspension,<br />

grades, grade point average, and hours pursued<br />

and earned are based on prevailing ULM standards,<br />

regardless <strong>of</strong> previous determin<strong>at</strong>ions <strong>at</strong> other institutions<br />

the student has <strong>at</strong>tended.<br />

MINIMUM ADMISSION STANDARDS<br />

Non-Traditional Students (Adult Learner)<br />

Adults aged 25 and over as <strong>of</strong> the end <strong>of</strong> the calendar<br />

year <strong>of</strong> applic<strong>at</strong>ion who are defined as entering<br />

freshmen must meet the following minimum admissions<br />

requirements:<br />

Student must:<br />

• be a high school gradu<strong>at</strong>e or<br />

• have a earned a General Educ<strong>at</strong>ional<br />

Development equivalency (GED) diploma, and<br />

Require no more than one developmental course<br />

(minimum ACT English 18/SAT Verbal 450 or ACT<br />

M<strong>at</strong>h 19/SAT 460.) Students who have not taken the<br />

ACT/SAT are required to successfully complete either<br />

the English or m<strong>at</strong>hem<strong>at</strong>ics tests <strong>at</strong> the ULM Testing<br />

Center. A small fee is charged for testing. Contact<br />

Adults aged 25 and over as <strong>of</strong> the end <strong>of</strong> the calendar<br />

must meet ULM Minimum Admissions Standards for<br />

Transfer Students.<br />

To apply for admission, submit the following:<br />

1. APPLICATION: Complete and submit an<br />

undergradu<strong>at</strong>e applic<strong>at</strong>ion and pay the<br />

appropri<strong>at</strong>e admission fee online <strong>at</strong> www.ulm.<br />

edu/apply (a paper applic<strong>at</strong>ion may also be<br />

downloaded and completed)..<br />

2. TRANSCRIPT: For in-st<strong>at</strong>e applicants who<br />

gradu<strong>at</strong>ed before 2002, the Admissions Office<br />

will request high school transcripts electronically.<br />

Home-schooled and out-<strong>of</strong>-st<strong>at</strong>e students must<br />

provide an <strong>of</strong>ficial high school transcript. The<br />

final transcript must include final grades and d<strong>at</strong>e<br />

<strong>of</strong> gradu<strong>at</strong>ion. Transcripts should be mailed to<br />

the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Louisiana</strong> <strong>at</strong> <strong>Monroe</strong>, Office <strong>of</strong><br />

Recruitment/Admissions, 700 <strong>University</strong> Ave.,<br />

<strong>Monroe</strong>, LA 71209-1160. Students who have<br />

earned a GED (high school equivalency diploma)<br />

should submit <strong>of</strong>ficial GED results to the same<br />

address..<br />

3. ACT/SAT SCORE: If the ACT/SAT was taken,<br />

<strong>of</strong>ficial scores from either the ACT or SAT<br />

should be submitted electronically to ULM and<br />

must be received prior to enrollment. ACT<br />

Test (ULM Code-1598) inform<strong>at</strong>ion is available<br />

<strong>at</strong> www.actstudent.org. SAT (ULM Code-6482)<br />

inform<strong>at</strong>ion is available <strong>at</strong> www.s<strong>at</strong>.collegeboard.<br />
