available for check out through the Service Center with<br />
present<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>of</strong> a valid I.D.<br />
ULM’s Wellness Program is comprehensive in n<strong>at</strong>ure<br />
and serves the <strong>University</strong> community. Components <strong>of</strong> the<br />
program include, but are not limited to: health promotion<br />
and disease prevention educ<strong>at</strong>ion, programs and services<br />
(fitness assessments, exercise prescriptions, exercise<br />
classes and rel<strong>at</strong>ed seminars, and wellness counseling) .<br />
CAREER CONNECTIONS AND<br />
EXPERIENTIAL EDUCATION<br />
The ULM Office <strong>of</strong> Career Connections & Experiential<br />
Educ<strong>at</strong>ion (CCEE) works with students on career<br />
prepar<strong>at</strong>ion and job search. From helping students find<br />
the right career, to writing a resume, to assisting with the<br />
job search, the staff <strong>of</strong> Career Connections is available<br />
to assist ULM students and alumni in their career<br />
development.<br />
The Career Connections <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>of</strong>fers assistance<br />
rel<strong>at</strong>ed to part-time employment, internships, and fulltime<br />
job search. Various workshops, career fairs, and<br />
on-campus interviews are held throughout each semester.<br />
Career Connections also works with employers to make<br />
them aware <strong>of</strong> the type and quality <strong>of</strong> gradu<strong>at</strong>es ULM<br />
produces and to be constantly aware <strong>of</strong> current workforce<br />
requirements.<br />
It is the goal <strong>of</strong> Career Connections to assist ULM<br />
students and alumni with job-rel<strong>at</strong>ed skills and facilit<strong>at</strong>e<br />
their career development efforts.<br />
COUNSELING CENTER<br />
The Counseling Center provides individual, couples,<br />
and group counseling to all enrolled ULM students.<br />
Services are free and confidential. The Center is also<br />
responsible for coordin<strong>at</strong>ing services for students with<br />
special needs.<br />
PROJECT EDUCATIONAL TALENT SEARCH<br />
The <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Louisiana</strong> <strong>at</strong> <strong>Monroe</strong> has sponsored<br />
an Educ<strong>at</strong>ional Talent Search Program since 1980.<br />
Educ<strong>at</strong>ional Talent Search is a federally-funded program<br />
designed to assist selected students from disadvantaged<br />
backgrounds in grades 6-12 to complete high school and<br />
then to enroll in some type <strong>of</strong> postsecondary educ<strong>at</strong>ional<br />
institution. To accomplish this goal, Educ<strong>at</strong>ional<br />
Talent Search <strong>of</strong>fers a variety <strong>of</strong> services including<br />
career testing, tutorials, campus visit<strong>at</strong>ions, academic<br />
counseling, ACT briefings, college-survival workshops,<br />
and federal financial aid workshops. Our target area<br />
encompasses West Carroll, Madison, Richland and<br />
Ouachita parishes. Currently, we <strong>of</strong>fer our services to ten<br />
schools within this target area.<br />
PROJECT UPWARD BOUND<br />
Upward Bound is a federally funded program designed<br />
to assist low socio-economic st<strong>at</strong>us college-bound students<br />
with educ<strong>at</strong>ional opportunities designed to enhance their<br />
ability to enroll in college. Upward Bound <strong>of</strong>fers a variety <strong>of</strong><br />
services including tutorials, campus academic workshops,<br />
counseling, ACT seminars, college tours, and financial aid<br />
workshops. Our target schools are Bastrop High School,<br />
Rayville High School, Carroll High School, Richwood High<br />
School, and Wossman High School.<br />
RECREATIONAL SERVICES<br />
The Department <strong>of</strong> Recre<strong>at</strong>ional Services,<br />
encompassing Intramurals, Wellness, Recre<strong>at</strong>ion, and<br />
its associ<strong>at</strong>ed facilities, is under the supervision <strong>of</strong> the<br />
Vice President for Student Affairs. The Department <strong>of</strong><br />
Recre<strong>at</strong>ional Services’ primary purpose is to provide<br />
recre<strong>at</strong>ion and wellness programs to the <strong>University</strong><br />
community and to support development and maintenance<br />
<strong>of</strong> a healthy lifestyle and total well-being. Furthermore,<br />
it is the mission <strong>of</strong> the Department to provide these<br />
experiences in a manner which is fully supportive <strong>of</strong> and<br />
integral to the fulfillment <strong>of</strong> the mission <strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong>.<br />
STUDENT HEALTH SERVICES<br />
Student Health Services provides non-emergent<br />
medical care to students. Immuniz<strong>at</strong>ion services are<br />
also available. SHS is responsible for ensuring the st<strong>at</strong>e<br />
required immuniz<strong>at</strong>ion compliance <strong>of</strong> all students entering<br />
ULM for the first time.<br />
STUDENT LIFE AND LEADERSHIP<br />
The Department <strong>of</strong> Student Life and Leadership is<br />
responsible for promoting student growth by developing<br />
and/or promoting programs and activities where students<br />
excel in service and leadership both on campus and<br />
in the community. The Department <strong>of</strong> Student Life and<br />
Leadership encompasses the <strong>of</strong>fices <strong>of</strong> Spirit Groups,<br />
Student Activities, and Greek Life. The Department<br />
challenges each student to expand their horizons and<br />
to experience the many opportunities available to them<br />
through leadership involvement in such programs and<br />
activities as student organiz<strong>at</strong>ions, Greek Life, service<br />
learning, and leadership educ<strong>at</strong>ion.<br />
STUDENT SERVICES (STUDENT CONDUCT)<br />
The Student Services (Student Conduct) Department<br />
serves an integral function <strong>at</strong> the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Louisiana</strong><br />
<strong>at</strong> <strong>Monroe</strong> in th<strong>at</strong> its primary role is to work within<br />
the Student Affairs Division to help establish a campus<br />
environment th<strong>at</strong> promotes a wholesome educ<strong>at</strong>ional<br />
<strong>at</strong>mosphere conducive to both intellectual and<br />
social learning experienc es. This particular service is<br />
accomplished by providing opportunities for all students
