2012-2013 UNDERGRADUATE CATALOG<br />
March 1, 1993. The 88,000 square foot complex houses<br />
the Recre<strong>at</strong>ional, Intramural, and Wellness programs.<br />
The facility includes: 5 multi-purpose courts (basketball,<br />
volleyball, and badminton), 6 glass wall racquetball/<br />
wallyball courts, a 2300 square foot group exercise room;<br />
a 4200 square foot weight room with machines and free<br />
weights; a cardiovascular/fitness area with st<strong>at</strong>ionary<br />
bikes, stairmasters, elliptical trainers, rowing machines,<br />
treadmills and stretching area; an elev<strong>at</strong>ed cushioned<br />
jogging track (6.5 laps/mile) with pace clocks; men’s<br />
and women’s locker rooms each equipped with sauna<br />
and steam room; a lounge area with big screen TV and<br />
refreshment center; a service center for equipment checkout,<br />
towel rental, and locker rental.<br />
AGRICULTURAL MECHANIZATION SHOP, an<br />
agricultural labor<strong>at</strong>ory facility, is loc<strong>at</strong>ed on the ULM<br />
Johnson Farm about four miles east <strong>of</strong> the main campus<br />
on U.S. Highway 80. Labor<strong>at</strong>ories in animal science and<br />
agronomy are held in this facility. This building is also<br />
utilized for special events such as judging contests and<br />
Block and Bridle Club activities.<br />
ANNA GRAY NOE ALUMNI CENTER is loc<strong>at</strong>ed on<br />
the east bank <strong>of</strong> Bayou DeSiard. It was the first building<br />
on the campus to be built with priv<strong>at</strong>e gifts. The Center<br />
houses all alumni oper<strong>at</strong>ions including <strong>of</strong>fices, meeting<br />
rooms, and a social room. The building was occupied in<br />
July, 1974.<br />
BROWN STADIUM, constructed in 1967, contains<br />
<strong>at</strong>hletic coaches <strong>of</strong>fices, military science facilities, and<br />
Graphic Services.<br />
CLARKE M. WILLIAMS STUDENT SUCCESS<br />
CENTER houses a computer lab, rooms for group study<br />
and tutoring, and multi-media rooms. A full-time advising<br />
staff provides academic support services, including<br />
assisting students with planning course loads and<br />
exploring career options.<br />
HEARD STADIUM, the tennis facility, was constructed<br />
in 1976 and has a se<strong>at</strong>ing capacity <strong>of</strong> 515. It contains<br />
dressing rooms and <strong>of</strong>fices for women’s tennis.<br />
JIM SHIPP MEMORIAL PAVILION, the therapeutic<br />
equestrian science facility, is loc<strong>at</strong>ed on the ULM Layton<br />
Farm about three miles east <strong>of</strong> the main campus on U.S.<br />
Highway 80.<br />
LA CAPITOL FEDERAL CREDIT UNION is loc<strong>at</strong>ed<br />
on Northeast Drive in <strong>University</strong> Commons II. La Capitol<br />
Federal handles the fee payment and deposit functions<br />
for the <strong>University</strong>, in addition to being a full service Credit<br />
Union.<br />
LAYTON RIDING ARENA, the equestrian science<br />
facility, is loc<strong>at</strong>ed about three miles east <strong>of</strong> the main<br />
campus on U.S. Highway 80. The arena is utilized by<br />
classes as well as by members <strong>of</strong> the Block and Bridle<br />
Club for practice and is available for special events such<br />
as horse shows, judging contests, playdays, and the<br />
Annual ULM Rodeo.<br />
MALONE STADIUM, one <strong>of</strong> the most modern<br />
football complexes in the n<strong>at</strong>ion, se<strong>at</strong>s 30,427 people.<br />
The se<strong>at</strong>ing is loc<strong>at</strong>ed on two levels and provides an<br />
excellent view from any se<strong>at</strong> in the stadium. Malone<br />
Stadium also fe<strong>at</strong>ures a double level press box which<br />

se<strong>at</strong>s over 200 people. Additional se<strong>at</strong>ing for booster<br />
groups is loc<strong>at</strong>ed bene<strong>at</strong>h the press box facility. The field<br />
is n<strong>at</strong>ural turf and fe<strong>at</strong>ures a modern sprinkler system<br />
and an excellent drainage system. Two scoreboards with<br />
electronic message boards are loc<strong>at</strong>ed <strong>at</strong> both ends <strong>of</strong><br />
the field. Concession and rest room areas are loc<strong>at</strong>ed<br />
on the second, third, and press box levels. Permanent<br />
concession and rest room facilities are also available on<br />
the east stands.<br />
Malone Stadium contains an <strong>at</strong>hletic field house<br />
which houses all <strong>at</strong>hletic <strong>of</strong>fices and provides facilities<br />
for football training and other services. It fe<strong>at</strong>ures the<br />
Director <strong>of</strong> Athletics’ <strong>of</strong>fice, all football coaches’ <strong>of</strong>fices,<br />
the Sports Inform<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>of</strong>fices, training rooms, dressing<br />
rooms, equipment rooms, weight rooms and an indoor<br />
work-out area.<br />
STUDENT HEALTH AND COUNSELING CENTER is<br />
loc<strong>at</strong>ed on the corner <strong>of</strong> LaSalle and <strong>University</strong> Avenue.<br />
It was completed in 2005 and houses Student Health<br />
Services and the Counseling Center.<br />
The STUDENT UNION BUILDING and the STUDENT<br />
CENTER was constructed in 1938 and renov<strong>at</strong>ed with<br />
a large addition in 1962. The SUB, as it is called, is<br />
considered the g<strong>at</strong>hering place for students, faculty and<br />
staff members, alumni, and friends <strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong>.<br />
The SUB and the Student Center had major renov<strong>at</strong>ions<br />
during 2006 with funding raised by self-assessed fees<br />
from the students <strong>of</strong> ULM. The renov<strong>at</strong>ed facilities include<br />
a ballroom, meeting rooms, SGA and Campus Activities<br />
Board <strong>of</strong>fices, computer lab, social areas, and the<br />
<strong>University</strong> Food Court, which includes: Subway, Chickfil-A,<br />
Einsteins, Grille Works, Bene, Sushic, and the new<br />
Coca-Cola Freestyle<br />
THE ULM BOOKSTORE, loc<strong>at</strong>ed next to Recruitment<br />
and Admissions in Sandel Hall, is your one-stop resource<br />
for textbooks, study guides, school supplies, computers<br />
and accessories, and a variety <strong>of</strong> resources to help<br />
you excel in the classroom. New and used textbooks<br />
may be rented or purchased, and the ULM Bookstore<br />
buys back textbooks year-round. It also <strong>of</strong>fers a large<br />
variety <strong>of</strong> emblem<strong>at</strong>ic gifts and apparel including: t-shirts,<br />
shorts, h<strong>at</strong>s, and swe<strong>at</strong>s in sizes from infants to XXXL.<br />
Other products and services available include academic<br />
s<strong>of</strong>tware, gradu<strong>at</strong>ion regalia, balloons, gift wrap, fax and<br />

UNIVERSITY POLICE is loc<strong>at</strong>ed in Filhiol Hall. Police<br />
and inform<strong>at</strong>ion services are provided 24 hours every day<br />
<strong>of</strong> the year. Parking management and vehicle registr<strong>at</strong>ion<br />
are both a function <strong>of</strong> <strong>University</strong> Police and both loc<strong>at</strong>ed in<br />
police building.<br />
THE UNIVERSITY POST OFFICE, loc<strong>at</strong>ed on the<br />
1st floor <strong>of</strong> the Student Union Building, provides facilities<br />
for the purchase <strong>of</strong> stamps, envelopes, postal cards,<br />
and other postal services. A post <strong>of</strong>fice box is furnished<br />
to each resident student for incoming mail and <strong>of</strong>ficial<br />
ULM correspondence. Each student living on campus<br />
is required to register for a box as part <strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong><br />
registr<strong>at</strong>ion procedure. Off-campus students may rent<br />
a post <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>at</strong> a r<strong>at</strong>e <strong>of</strong> $6.00 per semester. ULM
